It's not just Catholics, this problem is permeating all religions. This guy is Protestant, married and has a family. Celibacy is not the issue. The problem goes way beyond a celibacy issue. This is what the left wing wants you to believe. They want to make changes in the Catholic Church. First allow married priests, then allow female priests, etc.

It's not just Catholics, this problem is permeating all religions. What, even Islam? The Religion of Peace?

You are right. This guy was protected for years until he went totally looney. You can bet there were many episodes covered up by his gay superiors. The other denominations are no different. The greater the scandal, the greater the desire to cover it up and attack anyone who mentions it.
It's not just a religious vocation issue. Various helping professions do the same thing. Same MO. Same cover-up.

Absolutely, it's across all denominations. In Australia, our last Governor-General was an Anglican Archbishop. He eventually had to resign from office because it became clear he had helped to cover up sexual abuse in an Anglican school while Archbishop of Brisbane. This is a big deal - no previous Governor-General had had to resign so this was very high profile.
But still some sections of the community try to present this as a Catholic issue.
