Democrats demand total Iraq pullout

Representative John Murtha's bill, the first to demand an immediate withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, stunned officials in Washington.

The veteran US lawmaker said that the US military operation in Iraq is a lost cause.

"Our military has done everything that has been asked of them, the US cannot accomplish anything further in Iraq militarily," said Murtha, a Vietnam War veteran considered more hawkish than most members of his party.

"It's time to bring them home," Murtha said.

His resolution came two days after the Senate approved a Republican measure requiring the White House provide quarterly updates on the pace of military and policy gains in Iraq, in a signal that anxiety over the Iraq operation was spreading to members of Bush's own party.

Roy Blunt should immediately make an offer in compromise: We won't pull out of Iraq, but we will have the common decency to offer the insurgents a reacharound.

I demand Representative John Murtha's total pullout from American politics.

His voters should be ashamed.

Murtha has been saying the same thing for over a year. The fact that it is now "news" shows the close coordination between the Dems and the media on their effort to trash America.

Too true. It is what every democrat wants. A war started by the US that ends in the defeat of the US. It would soothe them a little after the defeat of communism.

This is one of those reasons why those polls, as biased as they are matter.

The Dems (and now even some of the Repubs) are being inundated with polls day after day that all say the same thing. "America is not in favor of Bush's policies."

So the Congress Critter's only rational explanation is to think, "MY constituents are not in favor of Bush's policies." The only logical conclusion for the Congress Critter is to oppose Bush's policies -- i.e. the war in Iraq.

The conclusion is then for the Congress Critter to get reelected, he has to do something -- i.e. pass legislation on getting the troops out.

Politics -- it's all a numbers game based on perception. Any chance that it mixes with reality is pure coincidence.

The Dems called this a quagmire, another Vietnam. Well it wasn't until recently.

We are now in the Vietnamization of Iraq, thanks to the Dems. And now a new generation can watch as the Democrats do what they do so well.

Sell our troops and the nation out.

The Dems got Vietnam going. The Dems then changed their minds and demanded a pull-out, leaving millions to die and yet they can somehow sleep at night with no haunting guilt.

After 911 there was a short time that I thought that all Americans could see the battles before us and appeared to be very patriotic. Then I thought to myself, "How many hours or days before the spineless liberals will again change their mushy minds and again cause the slaughter of millions more and yet sleep peacefully with no guilt?"

When they actually win a national election again, we may reconsider their "demands".

Tell me about it. I live in Philly, a Dem hellhole if there ever was one, and it's sickening to see the apathy and outright hostility toward the WOT. It's an attitude of "they won't bother us if we don't bother them". 9/11 is forgotten, sadly enough.

These Democrats really seem to want to embolden terrorists, grow American body bags and to leave those that were with us in Iraq alone for their own beheading.

These types of Democrats IMO are sickos.

These "people", the RATS

I wish people who just refer to them as Democrats. I have yet to see any actual rat screw over its own kind in hopes that it will bring about the ultimate destruction of its own society.

I've worked with rats and I've worked with Democrats. Between the two, the latter is the only truly dumb animal.

Sell our troops and the nation out.

And gain political power thereby. This is all about 2006, because if they don't change things before the Iraqi government gets in and the troops start to come home they're in for another decade of irrelevancy. They truly would sell the nation out to avoid that.

It's about 2008 as well. If they can't regain the House and Senate before that another Clinton presidency isn't going to accomplish much.

upset from the attacks Liberals continue to launch against our freedom, and the freedom of others living in other nations on this planet, and against the very definition of the word. How do those people get elected to office? That is a worrisome thought.

Maybe if the liberal's lost their loved one's in 9-11 they would be singing a different tune. We lost 3 people that we knew personally and I can tell you that their people want the terrorist caught wherever they are and they are glad that Bush is in to get the job done. The liberal's are for sure freeze dried 1960 children all growed up and still stuck in the vietnam era. What brainless cowards that they are. They can't even say "thank you" to a soldier, sailor or marine. I know my husband spent years in vietnam and when he did come home they spat on him and didn't even thank him for his service. glad those days are left behind.

Sadly, those days are the days these traitors charish.
They charish the days victory become defeat, and near a million people, -in some places complete genocide of ancient tribes- were wiped off the planet.

Thanks Jane, John Kerry.

I gree 100% Bob.

Put it to a vote. A binding referendum. Let's the Democrats own the history of a collosal failure once the troops get pulled.

But mostly, I think they'd go wobbly. They don't have the courage. They know as well as we do that pulling out the troops would go down as one of the biggest military blunders in history. Its better for them this way..the get to grip constantly, and when the whole thing turns out well, they'll claim its because of the pressure they put on Bush to "do it right", even though they never give a specific answer as to WHAT THE HELL THAT MEANS!

I would love to watch them squirm at a binding referendum vote. They know perfectly well what their base wants, and they also know it would be suicide to vote in that way.
