BOSTON A new poll shows Governor Romney improving against Attorney General Tom Reilly among voters asked their preference for the 2006 election.

The results come just weeks before Romney is expected to announce whether he'll seek re-election or launch a run for the presidency.

The same poll finds Reilly leading Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey in a possible matchup.

The survey shows Romney ahead of Reilly 41-to-37 percent. That's considered a statistical tie because it was within the poll's margin of error.

It was conducted for the business group Mass Insight Corporation by the Cambridge-based market research firm Opinion Dynamics.

In a similar survey conducted in July, Reilly held a six-point lead over Romney.

In the new poll, Reilly led Healey 45-to-27 percent, with 28 percent undecided.

Reilly is not exactly the brightest bulb out there, I think once people get to know him, they will come back to Romney, and they already are.

A couple of weeks ago Healey was on a local talk radio station discussing her opposition to in-state college tutition breaks for illegals, when Reilly called into the show to defend the bill in the legislature, and Healey totally cleaned his clock. But of course such a debate would only happen in this state, no other would even consider in-state college tutition breaks for illegals.
