11/15/2005 - 5:30am(CT) ADRIAN ROGERS FOUNDER OF LOVE WORTH FINDING AND PASTOR EMERITUS OF BELLEVUE BAPTIST CHURCH
September 12, 1931 - November 15, 2005
Dr. Adrian Rogers, Founder of Love Worth Finding Ministries, Pastor Emeritus of Bellevue Baptist Church and a gifted man of God passed away in to the presence of the Lord early this morning after battling cancer and double pneumonia.
I imagine literally thousands who came to know Jesus because of his ministry met him at the gate as he stepped over to glory and beheld the face of Jesus.
Details are incomplete at this time, but please continue to check this web site for updates and also please continue to pray for the Rogers' family.

Oh no!
I had no idea he was sick. I listen to him M-F on the radio from 9am - 9:30 on 101.4. I don't know of anyone who can fill his shoes. He was excellent. He cut through the nonsense and preached the truth. No doubt he is in heaven. He will be sorely missed.

Dr. Rogers was a great preacher and teacher of the Bible. This is sad for those of us still earthbound. He will certainly be missed. I knew he was not doing well because it had been mentioned in our church service as our pastor is good friends with him.
I don't even know how to get to the religion forum. I wish I had seen that. Maybe we need to set up a Baptist ping list, are you game, if not I will. I know there's a Catholic ping list here on FR.
Dr. Roger's was scheduled to come to Jacksonville Florida for the Pastor's Conference at First Baptist for Dr. Vines retirement. Now we certainly shall have to do a tribute to Dr. Rogers as well!

I'd not heard of Doctor Rogers .. I'm of an independant Baptist background- not Southern Baptist.
From what you are saying and the website of the ministry sounds as though he was a marvelous man of God!
Prayers for his family and those under his ministry.

Laugh..
I'm Southern Baptist NOW... in fact my pastor's wife and I have been discussing the history of the SBC lately. It's really very interesting - not coming from a "denominational" background.. ;)
We're a VERY tiny church.. not a "typical" "First Baptist" place. We've only been there a few months but knew the first Sunday we visited that we were finally "home" in a church!

Welcome, Dr. Rogers was our Pastor, but we have a new one, that I think will be great.
Even though this is a Mega church, I grew up in "tiny" So. Baptist churches in So. Calif.

Yes he was one of those who brought the denomination back to where it needed to be.
We're seeing a changing of the guard! We've recently studied Moses transferring leadership to Joshua and then on to Caleb.
Dr. Rogers has gone on and Dr. Vines is retiring. Dr. Falwell has been struggling with his health for the past year too.
Pray the Lord will Bless us with fearless men of God who will proclaim the Word and live it before us as an example.

Typical of the Memphis media.... The Commically Appalling is running way behind us... it's 7:15 and they haven't made mention of it yet....
On a different note.... he was a wonderful man. Full of life and passion for his vocation. (I'd talk with him on his morning walks at the local "mall" where his wife and he would exercise.)
Be at peace, my faithful and humble servant.

Thanks for the welcome!
You know I'm continually amazed when I hear a true man of God speak..
The pastor of our church is a quiet man... and VERY unassuming.. yet when he preaches you can literally hear and see when he is preaching what God would have him preach. I can't explain it.. it's NOT a "fire and brimstone" experience .. but an ENERGY and flowing of words. Sometimes those sermons are tough to hear - but I'll tell you I come away knowing that God has given Rick the words...
