An Open Letter to Senator Schumer

An Open Letter to Senator Schumer

Dear Senator :

You have been quoted in the press as being opposed to the nomination of Judge Alito to the Supreme Court because it would “divide – not unite Americans”.

I don’t mean to sound sarcastic, but I should have thought you’d be aware America is ALREADY a “divided” nation – and, if you are the Liberal you claim to be, one would think you would want it to STAY that way !

We Americans differ on a LOT of issues.

For example , you have long been famous ( or infamous ) for your efforts to disarm the American public. I’m sure you’d like everyone to agree with you, but a lot of us don’t. Should we be silenced ? Disregarded ? Treated with hostility by the Court ?

You favor abortion – as do a lot of other people; however, a large number of people are opposed to it outright ; and , I suspect,an even larger number are uneasy with the concept of abortion for the sake of personal convenience. Should the Judiciary be compelled to march in lockstep with the Pro-Abortion groups – or should it remain independent ?

I think , if you were to ask the American people , they would tell you they FAVOR a “divided” Supreme Court ; that they LIKE the idea of Judges with differing points of view getting together , arguing the strengths and weaknesses of the cases before them , and arriving at carefully reasoned decisions .

What they hate – and what they have resisted vigorously in the past – is a Supreme Court so united in outlook , its only function is to rubber stamp the prevailing philosophy of elected officials.

I don’t know how qualified Judge Alito is for the Supreme Court , and I hope you will study his background carefully . If you find him ignorant, cruel and malicious , mentally unstable , mired in scandal , or otherwise unfit for office , I hope you will move to disqualify him.

By the same token, should you find him well suited for the High Court,I hope you will move to confirm him – even if you disagree with him on certain issues.

We are selecting a Justice of the Supreme Court – not a Schumer running mate.

Good post, gene, and it inspires me to also write a letter to Schumer. Since I live in NY, perhaps he will listen to me?

Good letter, but Schumer is dumb, and was easily absorped by the left years ago.

Good but you need a "ps"

ps: Dear senator, I can't wait for Judge Alito to be confirmed, and at his first opportunity overturn Rybar so we can all have MACHINE GUNS.

That would make him apoplectic.
And guaranteed you'll be hearing about his dissent in Rybar. Gun grabbing Chuckie won't miss that one.

The DU maniac's heads are already spinning like Linda Blair over Rybar and wringing their hands that us right wing gun nuts will all have machine guns.

You might have better luck getting Chucky Cheese to listen.

Schumer is a smoke in the mirror demagogue liberal.

Sen. Scummer is anti-American. But one thing is for sure; when Chuckie Scummer leaves office he can sell used cars (my apologies to used car salesmen) and Justice Alito will still sit on SCOTUS.:-)

A very good letter; however, it appears to me that you forgot to request a copy of your credit report.

Schumer will listen right after pigs fly, hell freezes over, and Chuckie meets a television camera he doesn't like.

Great 2001 FR post on Schumer: Ground Chuck: A Different Sort of Borking by Paul Gigot

"Mr. Schumer -- acting on behalf of most Senate Democrats -- is trying to institutionalize the "Borking" of judicial nominees...
...send up Miguel Estrada (assuming Democrats ever confirm him to a seat on the D.C. Circuit). And if they reject him, send up Sam Alito, Michael Luttig or J. Harvie Wilkinson. "

Tthis is the only thing which I would change. They only rubber stamp the lower court rulings which allow the trash they call justice... They will rule for their cause, not for the Constitution. Some of our elected officials actually behave like they know the words on that piece of paper...

Since Schumer had the gall to bring up Rosa Parks and her experiences, Chucky should be asked why Blacks have been riding in the BACK of the 'Rat coalition bus for the past 50+ years. Any Blacks make SecState in a 'Rat Administration, Chucky?

It is amazing to me how the good folks of New York are OK with a 'girly man' and a 'manly girl' as their senators? Go figure?

As far as I'm concerned, the "manly girl" should go back to Arkansas or Illinois or wherever she's really from, and the "girly man" is a national disgrace. And there are millions of people here like me. Unfortunately, there are millions more who disagree.

Such is life in a blue state.

The 'millions more who disagree'??? Are they stuck on stupid? What value do they see in Schumer and Clinton?

Nope, got better thing to do with my time. We are outvoted by the "urban areas", and must be ever so careful in how we say this, for the "hate speech" folks just might come for us rural New Yorkers if we diss the them too much.

But, please know we hold them in minimal high regard, and wish them all they truly deserve.

If I understood, I'd tell you. Most Manhattanites will vote for anything with a (D) next to its name. All of the Outer Boroughs except Staten Island pretty much do the same (except in mayoral elections). The NYC suburbs have been becoming more and more Democrat over the past decade. And even some upstate counties voted for Chuckie in his last election.
