yes, but its good to get something out there like this early. my bet is that the Dems are already looking for any link between Alito and organized crime - not a direct link mind you, but anything. so if he had concrete poured in his home by a company that had "ties" to the family, they will smear him with that. or if he likes to eat dinner at an italian restaurant that is "connected" in any way.

remember, the average sheeple's view of italian-americans is what they see on television - the Sopranos and the Godfather. remember the phone call between Clinton and Flowers about Cuomo - that's the stereotype.

You know, it doesn't seem any better when race-baiters support my position than when they oppose it.

Scalito isn't racist or a slur against an ethnic group.

As an 2nd generation Italian American, I am offended that they are offended. These morons should STFU and go away. Italians are not whining crybabies like certain other groups.

Another hyphenated american group whining over perceived wrongs.

As an Italian-American and NIAF member I must say that they are trying a bit too hard to be offended by all this. No big deal, I say

I somewhat agree but it is always pretty funny to see the left's very own tactics used against them.

I'm an Italian-American, and frankly I found "Scalito" to be a compliment.

"Mr. Chairman, I would like to verify the witness's statement. For years now, a growing number of my constituents have been of Italian descent, and I have come to know them well. They have honored me with their support and with their friendship. Indeed, I can proudly say some of my very best friends are Italian Americans. …

"These hearings on the Mafia are in no way whatsoever a slur upon the great Italian people. Because I can state from my own knowledge and experience that Italian Americans are among the most loyal, most law-abiding, patriotic, hard working American citizens in this land.

"And it would be a shame, Mr. Chairman, if we allowed a few rotten apples to bring a bad name to the whole barrel. Because from the time of the great Christopher Columbus up through the time of Enrico Fermi right up to the present day -- Italian Americans have been pioneers in building and defending our great nation. They are the salt of the earth and one of the backbones of this country."

No doubt, I heard on Fox this morning that "conservatives" refer to him by that name. For crying out loud, what's the big deal. Seems all of America is "Demanding An Apology" for one thing or another. Have we become a nation of whiners?

I believe the point they are making is that Judge Alito should be considered his own man, and not a clone or little or "lite" version of the great Antonin Scalia, regardless of how honorable such a comparison is. And I agree.

The only reason that I would disagree with you is because the debate should not be allowed to sink to such low levels. Might as well make it clear at the get-go that gutter-sniping is not acceptable in this public debate.
