Hey Dean ... You think States Right is a bad thing???
Keep talking pal ... You do wonders for our side
Go Scalito!
Go Scalito!
Go Scalito, Go!!!
Me too! I scrolled back up and moused over the Drudge link to see if that's where it really went--its just too silly.
"One outraged Republican strategist claimed, If Alito were a liberal there would be no way Democrats and Washingtons media elite would use such a racially insensitive nickname. Italian-Americans should not have to face these types of derogatory racial slurs in 21st century America.
I like the name. Getting your panties in a wad over it sounds like something a PC liberal would do.
I think both sides want a fight. I guess they're going to get it but maybe not as bad as say if he nominated JRB.
ahhh, politics
LOL! "Racially-isensitive"? How ridiculous!
Racist!!!
This is pre-emptive damage control. They want to ix-nay on the Scalia comparisons until they're sure the Gang of 14 will sign off on golden boy Alito.
Wasn't "scalito" the nickname of the Al Pacino character "Scarface?"
I believe that using the Italian language as a base, "Scalito", in addition to combining the names, would also mean "little Scalia."
Has anyone mentioned he was the sole disenter in the Casey case...la
B.S.
The whiners are trying to make a 'racial' issue out as a method of attack. It is PC BS.
The conjoining of the same is not racial, and it is a stretch to claim it is. It is no more than conjoining other names: Reid and Shumer as Reimer or Shumeid; Kennedy and Clinton as Kenton or Clinedy.
I agree. However, if they follow up with gangster or mafioso comics then it's time for us to demogogue but certainly not over Scalito. This is certainly a compliment as to Alito's qualifications.
Agreed. I don't see anything wrong with it. How is "Scalito" a slur?
"Insensitive": the slur Dims use when they can't think of anything else . . .
Looks like a winner--let's roll!
lol
And oh so true.
I'm not getting the "insensitive" part either. Perhaps if they were calling him Judge Wopner...
Being married to an Italian for thirteen years I think I have a little insight. The response is likely to be: call him anything you like, Romans Rule!
