Actually it should be under "Old News."
This arguement will hold water the day I see someone choose to act black.
If his status as a "celebrity" lead one confused youth to become a homosexual because his "idol" says it is ok, God has a pretty strong feeling against it.
While the earlier episodes were a bit dull, some of the later DS9 episodes rank with the best of TNG and TOS, especially the ones with the Dominion. And Jadzia Dax was the hottest of all the Trek babes.
I wondered why he once said "There's nothing more fun than a dozen Tribbles up your ass." Makes sense now.
2) The "millstone" that I think Christ is going for is not AIDS, but rather the punishment in the hereafter for those who encourage others to sin. 2) I have a relative who is a recovering alcoholic. Some science says there may be a genetic link that makes some people more prone to alcohol addiction. And yet, I have never walked up to him, thirty-five years dry, and said to him, "You know? It doesn't appear you have much choice in the matter of your drinking. Here, let me buy you a scotch."
We don't make excuses for alcholics anymore. They are not (or shouldn't be) shunned as being somehow less than other people, but we don't encourage them to go right on doing what we know to be harmful in the name of tolerance. My relative's brain is constantly saying to him, "hey, just one. Won't hurt you! Come on!" and he has to make the decision everyday to not act in the way his flesh tells him is good, and to make a concious choice to avoid behavior that he knows can harm him.
4) Let's say somebody tells, "I think that the coolest thing ever would be to walk up and put my face in a woodchipper, and I am going to do it right now." Would it not be my responsibility to say, "that is dangerous, wrong, and will hurt you. And if you have a family, doing this thing will hurt them. You shouldn't do it." Or should I, in the name of "tolerance", allow them to express themselves by putting their face in a wood-chipper?
1) If you are "tettering on the cusp" as it were, having a person you respect say it is OK could easily convince you to act on your impulese.

That's the one. Ed Bishop as Commander Straker.
That show was on (at least on the UHF / cable stations I had access to) just as I was in the throes of first testosterone. Those women were the object of much desire in those days...
Cheers!
Enjoy thread hy-jacking, chum?
If a person is observant of some Star Trek fans at science fiction conventions and the clubs that provide open parties at them, there are several sick scifi fan 'family secrets' reveiled.
=
I do know about this recent communication from a large Star Trek fan group that was sent on the Internet:
Felix (name edited) was just arrested by the Fresno County Sherrifs and Deptarment of Homeland Security for Collection and Distribution of Child Pornography over the internet. He was arrested while attending class at City college and the went to (name edited) house, where Felix was staying, and raided and seized all computers and questioned (name edited) Col. of Starfleet Marines, CAMP WENDEL and his family for 4 hours. Felix is to be arraigned and charged sometime tomorrow. This is a heads up to any of you who may have had extensive contact with Felix lately. Felix was (is no longer as of this moment) a member of my chapter, the USS Gallant. More news to come as it becomes available.
(name edited) Commodore - STARFLEET Commanding Officer - USS Gallant

And these scifi convention events: an organization seeking new membership advertises with many flyers and children's bookmakers for their room parties. Room parties sponsored by the Californian organization called, "Live the Dream". This is a sexual partner swapping 'polyamory' group.

Another is another sexual lifestyle group in scifi fandom are called "furries". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furries#Sex_and_furry_fandom

Specifically convention get-togethers of the sexually
active "toonophiles' and 'furverts', http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furvert

And you just thought these conventions were populated a few 'different' scifi Star Trek costumed people.
If you watched the corniest of all Star Trek shows Enterprise, you would understand

Not all the Klingons changed, but a heck of a lot of them.
Oh, and Star Trek Voyager was by far the best, only because it
tied up the Borg plotline and Seven of Nine was hot, even though her ex-husband was a d^&%weed and a sham of a republican.
