Just an open thread for prayer.
May God be with you, Harriet Miers, and bless you. You have made a courageous move for the good of the President and many others. May He in His glory guide your days, and may you remain in His love forever.
Lord please grant the wisdom of Solomon to our great President right now. Difficult times may be ahead, and he needs you as all men need God, and then some. Help him to make a wise decision on who to nominate, and guide this White House through times of turmoil. Be with them strongly, and remind them to seek you in all decisions always.
Protect George W. Bush from those who would harm him, from those who seeks his destruction for selfish purposes, and from those who would lie, cheat, steal, or kill to get twhat they seek.
Amen, Lord, Amen.

We pray that Harriet hears voices of support for her, personally, and knows that those who are pleased by her action have no personal animus towards her at all, personally.
We pray that she continues to serve the President well as his counsel.

Under the circumstances I think Ms. Miers made the right decision. I know the President will appoint someone else and then a whole new battle royal will boil over. This President is going to have to fight the left for every inch of ground no matter who he selects.

I, too, pray for President Bush and Ms. Miers. I admire her poise and confidence and courageousness in the face of so much venom lately. I pray that this will just be a blip on the screen of an otherwise fulfilling and successful life.
And for President Bush ... Lord, I thank you for this man who has committed himself to serving You and to serving this great nation in ways that please You. I thank you for giving us such a president and I ask Lord that you would prepare another man such as President Bush for 2008. Bless W and his family, Lord; keep them strong and healthy and close to You. May W and his administration be strong and courageous to do what is right in the face of monstrous criticism. And bless them abundantly for it. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Thank you for this thread. I just had written Ms. Miers a letter.
Dear Lord:
Please put your hand of mercy on Ms. Miers. Give her Your love and compassion. Close her ears to the harsh words of the world. Open her ears to Your calm and kindness. give her the wisdom to continue to smile and talk with the grace that she has carried through the past 3 weeks. It is hard to understand the hostility that has overcome our airways, newspapers, and televisions. Help us to look to You for our daily guidance, and assurance. I ask that You be with President Bush, give him Your hand and lift him up from the wall of turmoil he has to endure daily. Let him know that he is prayed for and lifted up to You each and every day.
I ask You bind up the enemy and let their be no room for him in this administration. I pray for the indictments, that if there was any wrong doings that it be shown to us in clear and compelling evidence. If not I ask that You be with this prosecutor and let him know the correct and honest way to move forward and tell of his findings.
Your our only hope in this world of delusion and corruption. We know the enemy is laughing at our hurts and fears, but Lord, I give You all of the worries of this world and I trust in You for our future days ahead.
Be with our troops, protect them, guide them and love with like only You can do. I ask the hearts of the evil ones be changed and they will fall from their wicked ways. May we adore You, and we Worship You in all we do. Let not our hearts be troubled nor afraid.
In Your Precious Name I ask and Pray.

AMEN!
Dearest Heavenly Father, we bring our sister in Christ, Harriet Miers before You today, asking You to heal the wounds of the vile attacks she has had to endure. We ask, in Your mercy, that she might be restored, and might feel Your presence close to her at this hour. Dry her tears and refresh her, and help her to understand that she is deeply admired for her character and strength. Thank you for her life, and the fine example she has been in this short time.
We also pray fervently for President Bush as he now must make a decision to replace her. Grant him the wisdom that he seeks from You. Guide his steps, and direct his path to a nominee who will honor You, and will honor the laws of this land, and the Constitution upon which it was founded. Give President Bush the strength to prevail as he leads us back to righteousness and integrity. We thank You, Loving Father, for his leadership and his character and integrity, and for Your mercy in giving him to us to lead America during these dark and troubling days.
Father, we ask all these things in the strong name of Jesus, who is the Christ, and we thank You for the answer to our prayers, Amen!

I came to work late this morning so I could stop at church and pray after hearing this news.
I will always live by my Grandmother's request of faith: be still and listen for God is not the author of confusion.

I join in earnest prayer for Harriet Miers and for George W. Bush: Gods blessings, peace and guidance. To all here who see this nomination as a Spiritual issue and not a political issue, i.e. that the Supreme Court is the reason this country is becoming ever more anti-God and thereby in increasing peril: I again join with you in asking God to heal the Supreme Court and trusting Him that He has heard our prayer and will attend the nomination according to His will.
To all here who sense hatred rather than love in the aggressive opposition of Miers: I join with you in asking God to forgive those Christians who, for a moment, gave into hate, chosing self-will over His will, darkness over Light - to be merciful toward them, open their Spiritual eyes, heal their pain and this land.
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. - 2 Ch 7:14

If you watch the magician's hands, you don't see what's going on.
Too much peripheral distracting stuff in the American media the last few days: Miers, Fitzpatrick/Plame/Rove, Delay.
Not that those issues aren't important, but the time devoted to them is overkill and keeps "what" out of view?

So very true. The most certain and important knowledge comes from God. Man, on the other hand, would have us "watch the birdie" to persuade us to who-knows-what or to cover for something surreptitious that could not stand in the Light.
But God knows everything and is Good, Love and Light - thus we pray for His will to be done, no matter how much it might seem to discomfort in the moment, we trust Him.
Thank you for your insights, my dear brother in Christ!

This is a very sad day for me. Once again, we see a "pack mentality" working to undermine the President in the discharge of his constitutional duties. What is particularly depressing is, this time, the "pack" was fomented by "our own people"; and their effort was successful.
Especially I pray for His blessing for Ms. Miers and the President. It seems to me that neither had warranted such vicious, intemperate abuse. But the Lord's purpose will be served; Praise the Lord!
I pray God for His Light and Grace and healing for all concerned. May the Lord's will be done in all things.

My sentiments exactly. I'm reminded of those on the opposite end of the spectrum; the hippies who are all about love, tolerance and peace until you disagree with them. Then you better run like hell to avoid the stones... or should I say molotov cocktails?

I know that Miss Meiers will not be going on the Today Show to bash the next nominee...... disgracing herself as Judge Bork disgraced himself by making the rounds trashing this gentle lady.
I, for one, am happy that someone with such a despicable temperament never got on the Court.

I agree that Bork should have just been quiet and let the smoke clear on this.
I think that there is a lot of bad feeling going around on this; remember, Bork took some shots, many of which weren't warranted, in all of this, too.
A lot of people feel angry (Miers is my good friend) or insulted (sexist, elitist) in all of this. I think it's time for Bork, you, me, Miers, Bush and the whole lot of us to start a little healing.
Hopefully, as a team, we can all bury the hatchet; or at least wield it against the true enemies of our Justice System.

I am not about to forget who weakened our President for their own personal power.
Our country and our military families deserved better.
If this President is so weakened that we get a demonrat President will they be happy when funding for the WOT is cut off and our men and women will have died in vain?
