Just remember most of the people who opposed Miers were the same who opposed Roberts and oppose everything the Preisdent does. They hate him just as much as the kook left does which is why they sound more and more like them every day.

Get a room, you two...

Miers was a disaster. She would have been Souter II. If that is the price of supporting President Bush, the price is too damn high.

And I am the biggest Bushbot I know...

Let's see how many of these howlers stick around to actually support Bush's next choice.

I agree. He really looks weak now. Hope everyone is happy. Now the Dems will really be on the warpath against whoever he nominates. Bush should have reminded everyone he is still the president and can nominate whomever he feels like. Be careful what you wish for...

The quagmire in Iraq, the rising deficits, no control of our borders, and forgetting his base has undermined his second term. No way around it, Miers was a terrible choice at a time Prsident Bush really needs the suppoprt of his base.

Not at all... He can put this behind him (and us) and reverse the tide by choosing a better candidate.

Tend to agree with you. The only thing appropriate at this point is to PURGE Conservative ranks of the sunshine patriots. That starts with, interestingly enough, the banishment of National Review On Line and their running dog lackeys like the arch traitor "Chucky" Krauthammer.

Then we can get started on more detailed stuff.

"Now Bush has been completely undermined for the rest of his term."

Don't be silly. The President undermined HIMSELF with his OWN PERSONAL DECISION/PICK.

Doesn't have to be. He can pull a political jujitsu and nominate someone with gravitas and unleash carve the Democrats with their own sword.

That depends, if he uses his mulligan and sinks the putt, then he should regain on the conservative base...I would think.

Thats absurd. Nixon's nominee Fortas went down in 69 and Nixon won with a landslide in 72. If Bush nominates a good strong candidate and it gets confirmed it will be like harriet Miers never happened.

So what's more important...Bush's short-term political considerations, or the next 20+ years of the Supreme Court?
