When my son (who has never had a behavoril problem) was in the 4th grade he was suspended for 2 days.

His crime:

A girl told him that another girl was telling fellow students my son liked her.

He said: "Like her - I'd like to shoot her with a bazooka."

The principal actually apologized because he was required to suspend my son.

The rather effective Kubatan system is based on a pen.

I'd heard it's mightier than a sword. Is that true?

GET ME MORE DUCT TAPE! MY HEAD IS ABOUT TO EXPLODE!!

GREAT God in Heaven what'll it be NEXT, dare I ask?

These MORONS ALL need to be publicly disemboweled and hung up by their intestines for the vultures.

Not that I advocate anyone implementing this plan, but it IS what needs to happen, nonetheless.

Except if she chooses to join the military, in which case she still has to disclose the fact that she was charged/convicted of a felony, even if it was later expunged.

While Zero Tolerance equals Zero Intelligence, simply stating that is not enough. The parents of this child -- and the parents of those other children who are still able to think -- must insist that the school board fire the principal and the teacher for cause and must go after the members of the school board if they will not do so. In addition, they must insiste the Chief of Police fire the cops involved as they have demonstrated they do not possess the miminim IQ (92) required to be an effective police officer. If the Chief of Police balks, then the parents must go after the politicians who can hire and fire him. Until adults are willing to take such actions, we will have more reports of "zero neurons fired in making this decision".

Maybe she also had one of these in her backpack?

Pens and pencils are weapons too! They are sharp pointy objects and dangerous! Skoolchilrun should use jumbo crayons to write and draw, regardless of age! Time to distribute the Thorazine now, gotta fry the chilrun's brains so they don't think any dangerous thoughts!

Just a look at the publik skools of the future. It's not that far off.

Well, as long as they're non-toxic crayons. And no sharp paper!

Zero Tolerance = Zero Intelligence

It is my conclusion that the purpose of initiatives such as this is to condition the citizenry to behave as if they were in an institution at all times.

This is simply totalitarianism, American-style, and inimical to any sort of free society. It amounts to the 'domestication' of a free people.

I hope the kids throw this yoke off - it is obvious that their parents' generation is too invested in the system to defend their own flesh and blood against abuse.

The police are idiots too. How is an 11 year old girl going to be a treat to them.

True.  11-year olds are treats for priests.

My cousin, who has worked as a prison chaplain as well as a police officer, said that "zero-tolerence" and a disinterest in circumstances or who started a problem are how they deal with prisoners in prison when they just don't care about being fair anymore. The question is, why are we treating children the same way we treat prisoners in prison?

This all traces back to the liberal handmaidens, the trial lawyers. Zero tolerance is the unions' and governments' way of avoiding decisions which may get someone sued. It also conveniently limits individual freedom, the true purpose. After the masses are conditioned by political correctness and zero tolerance to accept government control, no matter how idiotic, it is only a small step to acceptance of total government control. We almost have that now without realizing it. That is the plan.

How about if each school had petit-police and a miniprison?  Then the children could be incarcerated humanely.

Another object lesson in the left's ongoing efforts to de-b@ll the American population, by teaching our children to be sheeple.

I really think some form of dueling should be reinstated.

"Cudgels and pads" cage matches?

Pavlov proved what we already know, sometimes you have to use a 2x4 to get folks attention.

These PC droids, ought not be able to hide their outrageous actions behind "zero tolerance" or anything else.

Arrest and handcuff them for false arrest or child abuse.

It's 2x4 time peoples.

If it's anything like my (former) school, the only "baseball" bats used in gym class were the hollow plastic ones. Even in high school.

Good point. Sounds about right. Of course I also think that parents are part of the problem. It doesn't help that they've gone from punishing their own kids when they do wrong to making excuses for them and hiring lawyers to sue the school.
