It ain't cool being on your knees all the time in a flood.
Folks, to say that the storms are the wrath of God because of decadence and debauchery is just plain idiotic. Yes, New Orleans is full of people who would probably make Sodom & Gomorrah look like the Vatican, but I just got back from Gulfport, MS and I can tell you that it is MUCH worse than anything I saw in NO. Last time I checked, no one was accusing Gulfport of being a mecca for 'mo's.
And before you say I am some atheist or agnostic, I went to Gulfport via the NC Baptist Men's Disaster Recovery program, where I was trained in disaster recovery. I am Christian and active in mission in my church, but I no believe God is "punishing" these areas than I believe the 'mo's in the AIDS-fest article are going to live in His kingdom living like this.
The storms didn't discriminate, no matter that Spike Lee, Calypso Louis or the "religious" nut-jobs protesting soldier's funerals say. History is full of examples of the just being hit by tragedy as many times as the unjust. While I know God can certainly wipe ANY area off the face of the earth when He wants, I suspect had His patience grown so thin as to take out a place, there are far worse places on this planet He could have taken out. Come to think of it, when was the last Hurricane in Rio? How about Bangkok?
Regardless, NO punishment suffered in this world for indiscretions will compare to the eternal punishment we face when we live outside of God's will.
