I remember the years the fans wore paper bags over their heads, they were so bad.

That's diplomatic. Boy, with nastiness like that, Benson must really be eager to get his Saints back to the Big Easy.

So, is the mayor going to bring his family back from Dallas??

I haven't heard. His actions speak louder than his words. Nagin evacuated his family before calling for a mandatory evacuation. After Katrina, he moved his family to Dallas while planning the re-entry to New Orleans.

Actually, Jacksonville is smaller. Of course Foxboro is tiny, but the Pats' markets are Boston and Providence.

"We want our Saints, we may not want the owner back," Nagin said

Oh, that'll bring them back for sure.

@ss-clown Nagin picking a fight with a football team. Why doesn't this surprise me in the least?

People here despise Benson.

Actually, Jacksonville is smaller.

Jacksonville has a larger population than New Orleans - about 750,000 vs NOLA's preKatrina 490,000. Charlotte falls between the two, with about 550,000. Green Bay is the smallest NFL city, with slightly over 100,000.

FEMA could provide season tickets to everyone who was displaced by Katrina, and they could use them in whatever city they find themselves in.

The Mayor should be required to spend all of his Sundays in the Super Dome.

Well, the part concerning his high and mighty could work.

A distinction needs to be made between the city and the media market. The Pack's media market is Milwaukee and Green Bay. A fairer measuring stick would be the populations of the metropolitan areas and not the cities proper.

I heard he bought a house on Mars and moved his family up there and he flys up there on weekends to be with them. While there on the weekends he rapes the Martian women and is forcing them to have his babies. That is how he is going to repopulate New Orleans, with little Martians.

As crazy as that may sound it is about as factual as most posts you read on these hate New Orleans threads.

That's because contrary to popular belief New Orleans had more than poor black people living there. The state of Louisiana has supported this team through thick and mostly thin and for benson to pull this crap now is just wrong. He could have waited at least one more season to pull out.

You got me there, but I am old enough to remember when GB played half their home games in Milwaukee.

Was it Tom Benson's dealerships that the NOPD looted before Katrina hit?

The dealership from which NOPD officers allegedly "borrowed" nearly 200 cars -- including 41 new Cadillacs -- is Sewell Cadillac-Chevrolet of New Orleans, a Cadillac dealership conveniently located at 701 Baronne Street (7 blocks upriver from Canal Street). The general manager, Doug Stead has asked the U.S. Attorney and the LA Attorney General [Charles Foti, former criminal sheriff of N.O.] to investigate. Apparently, having the NOPD investigate the NOPD was thought to be a potentially exercise in futility. IIRC, the potential loss to this dealer is $3M+ for the new cars and another $900K for the used cars.

Green Bay is the smallest NFL city -- and probably by a wide margin, too.

Unlike the business model other sports, the size of a metro area isn't a great indicator of the region's ability to support an NFL team. The vast majority of a team's revenues come from national television and merchandising deals, which is why the NFL can have teams in some very small metro areas by "big-league" sports standards. Green Bay, New Orleans, Tennessee, and Buffalo (to name a few) all play in rather small cities.

Wow! A voice of reason. Don't expect to get to much support with rational thinking like that. Don't you know it's very popular now to hate New Orleans and kick them while they are down?
