What's the Senator count? David needs to spend sometime trying to find that out as that is the only favorable/unfavorable the matters when it comes nut cutting time.........
These polls are only showing Ms. Miers isn't as popular with some as previous nominees but they show she isn't rejected in total by a large precentage...... 12% lol.

David Frum is coming up on the Michael Medved show. I don't know which hour he will be appearing, but his show starts live here in DFW on KSKY, 660 AM, or www.ksky.com on a live stream.
This should be good. Medved is pro-Miers, and is one of the best debaters I've ever heard.

The problem is those commentators seem to think that they are the bus drivers.

44% of self-described conservatives have a "favorable" impression of Harriet Miers as opposed to only 12% who have an "unfavorable" impression. (45% don't have an opinion.)
44+12+45=101 ?

" The stunt also threatens Republican relations with religious conservatives. The assurances offered to the Arlington Group were almost certainly empty."
No matter. They'll support him anyway.
To: RobbyS
Frum has a lot of ego invested in this matter. Yes, and if he thinks Republican senators won't vote for Miers, he's wrong. If they voted for Ginsberg, they'll vote for Miers.
To: fizziwig
You are right that both Frum and John Fund of WSJ have made it almost a vendetta-like mission to sabotage her nomination. Personally, I don't care if she NEVER writes a brilliant opinion as long as she votes the right way on every issue. We have plenty of geniuses up there---Scalia, Thomas, and Roberts.

Fund is certainly pro-choice when the choice is between paying for an abortion or paying child support.
He was caught up in quite a little scandal of his own a few years ago.

That's it, guys! Time to play hard ball against any conservatives who oppose the PRez! You just go beat the hell out of them! Aaarrrgh! Show those conservatives who the boss is! Imagine if he was as tough on the Democrats as he is on the conservatives. He could have actually accomplished something in his Presidency.

I don't care if she NEVER writes a brilliant opinion as long as she votes the right way on every issue. Start setting that president and in 50 years the SCOTUS will be nothing more than another legislative branch of government - exactly what conservatives are supposedly against.

And John Fund's rather shocking story in today's Wall Street Journal may portend a coming reversal in Senate Democrats' early acceptance of the Miers nomination.Exactly. Our "purebloods" are on the side of the leftist Democrats as surely as those Dems are on the side of Al Queda.
They are desperate to torpedo this nomination before it is revealed exactly which Senators share their views.

It's not a rumor, it's old news. I was just reminding Sinkspur of Mr Fund's hypocrisy.

Signed the petition and BTTT
Harriet Miers is not a conservative in the Scalia/Thomas mold, as President Bush promised. In fact, though she is largely an enigma, what we do know about her is enough to reject her out of hand: her academic and professional record is unspectacular; she has never taken a forceful or compelling legal stand on the constitutional issues that matter most to conservatives; and she gave money to Al Gore in the recent past.
She's a dud.
