What a revolting article!
The MSM, the Left and many on the right are going after this woman because she is an Evangelical Christian.
Line up the people who are for her, and who are against her. They fall into one group- non Evangelicals and groups hostile to Evangelicals.
For me, that is one main thing in her favor.

Me too...

"The Dallas of political battles over minority and gay rights, of course, was substantially different from the predominantly white and segregated city where she was born the fourth of five children. "

The 4th of Five? All the rest were brothers, unless I'm mistaken. Hmmmm.. That makes her a first born daughter.

Amazing things, first borns. G. W. Bush, like his Dad, is a first born, as were all the Presidents of the USA, save one or two. Of the first 25 astronauts in NASA, ALL were first borns (two only borns...).

I'm guessing Harriet is even tougher than the msm is letting on; the hearings will be the test.

Why even have to explain these things? Why not pick someone
who a. was younger b rock solid conservative?

Another explaination, another "but consider" and "she just
wanted equal rights, not special rights" didn't they have
that already? That is known as "spin" and the same thing
occured with Roberts because of his work on the case in
CO that overturned the express will of the people.

But look at what her boyfriend says:

"You can be just as pro-life as the day is long and can decide the Constitution requires Roe" to be upheld, he said."

Hopefully he's an ex boyfriend.

I'm also concerned that the pastor decided he was gonna do what he was going to do and not listen to the board of elders... and she went along with that.

I don't know that it'd turn me against her for nomination, but... it's an interesting story. The church *did* Purpose Driven last fall, and don't seem to be doing it anymore now that Ron Key is gone:

All of these have links to

so it is the correct church.

The page bills it like McCarty interviewed warren but the interviewer just played a short blurb of McCarty.

So now I don't know WHAT is going on. The church did 40 days of purpose last fall. Not sure which pastor is the problem here! (maybe both?)

So which is it? McCarty is connected to Warren, Key left because he didn't want to "contemporize" to appeal to the younger crowd, which is a Warren trait. Now I am confused yet again as to what it all means.

Maybe Key got duped into doing the "40 Days of Purpose" and discerned it was all wrong. Then the board tried to force him into following into the "Transitioning" stage, and he resisted, getting fired in the process. Good for Key, in my opinion.

If I were allowed to question Harriet Miers as a Senator, I would ask her if she follows Rick Warren's teachings. Her answer there would dictate my support or lack thereof.

don't seem to be doing it anymore now that Ron Key is gone:

Ya know, I'm gonna retract that. I am not sure what the articles I've read are saying about which pastor. In particular one article I read here:

Miers Joins Dallas Church Breakaway Group which says "he had a different vision" or something... without being clear which "he" it was referring to.

lol but hey if she has purpose maybe she'll get the bit in her teeth and damn the torpedoes...! That can't be any *WORSE* than it's been thus far, can it? ;-)

"Key left because he didn't want to "contemporize" to appeal to the younger crowd"

I couldn't get that from the articles... who was trying to change things to attract the 'world' into the church, I read it several times and it always seemed fuzzy to me. Watch the interview in the link I gave and at least McCarty seems to be on board with Purpose, but... was Key also? I don't know.

This article is a little clearer. McCarty arrived last year as 'preaching pastor' and was working alongside this guy Ron Key... sounds like Key had been there for many years, and McCarty ousted him, probably "on Purpose."

The quote "he had a different vision" refers to the new incoming pastor, McCarty. The old-timers didn't agree with his "vision" and went their own way. Sound familiar?

It is quite clear to me that if Rick Warren has his own Justice sitting on the Supreme Court, we are in trouble. If Miers disavows Warren, I support her.

Have you noticed the silence of the normal Warren Defense Team here? That makes me worry about it as well!

I have not read anything where Miers praises Rick Warren or PDL/PDC.
I,m not ready to assume guilt by association just yet.
