This is my first post on this blog and I want to use this opportunity to comment on something that I find to be very important, and that is the issue of LTC Shaffer's security clearance. The AP story that was issued Friday entitled "Pentagon revokes clearance of 'Able Danger' officer" was replete with many errors and unfortunate omissions that portrayed my client, who the reporter never interviewed, in a false light.
I would like to set the record straight so that everyone knows the situation. I set up the story so that a full and balanced portrait could be drawn. Of course I knew that unfavorable information would be reported, but so long as the substantive responses would be reported alongside we had no qualms about releasing the information. The information I submitted not only from LTC Shaffer to refute the allegations but also from independent third parties would show everyone how petty, pathetic and absurd the allegations were.
Unfortunately, the AP story was terrible. Despite having the documents in her possession the reporter made numerous errors and ignored crucial information. To say that I was disappointed is an understatement. Twice I got the AP to modify the story and yet still they just couldn't get it right, which is why I am submitting this post here.
Most of you already realized, even with the poor reporting of the AP story, how ridiculous the DIA allegations are. I have been handling security clearance cases for about a decade and I was dumbfounded by the lack of evidence the DIA had against LTC Shaffer and the depths to which DIA transversed to try and manufacture a case against him. Let me further support your conclusions.

Absolutely, absolutely amazing.
I read it. One thing is certain (IMHO), is that when your clearance is revoked but days or weeks ahead of your agreement to disclose, then the game hardball has begun.
While it is illegal to take classified info home (see Deutsch, Berger, et al), sometimes having a CD full is not such a bad thing.
Degrees and education aside, journalists are not the sharpest knives in the drawer.
Ignorance is their most notable characteristic, closely followed by political bias.
What a job AP did, hard to believe that it was just incompetence.
AP is the democrats attack dog. They don't want this story out because it makes their impeached-liar-under-oath adulterer-perverted-sex-addict Clinton look bad.
So .. who's in the DIA's office who doesn't want this information to be made public ..?? I wonder what it will take to find out who in that office is connected to Gorelick. I am convinced she is spearheading the drive to keep this information out of the public.
It's all being done to help Hillary.
Yet again we see the mendacious ineptitude of so much of the MSM! This 'reporter' is not worthy of shoveling excrement on a pig farm, but is allowed (and PAID) to report on national security matters of the utmost importance. What a travesty!!!
Worse still is the railroad job some DIA bureaucrats are trying to do to the honorable Col. Shaffer. If Rumsfeld or someone close to him does not take notice and do something to correct these injustices I will be even more disgusted.
The only way to really fix it is getting another media outlet to make a story out of APs dishonest reporting and refusal to correct it. Which will happen.
Actually, absolutely ABOUT TIME! The MSM is only empowered and because "we the people" have made it so. Now, Americans are making newer choices about where and how to get their news. And where and how to report it.
Good.

Speaking of Old Sandy, the Sloppy Sock Berglar, he'll be getting his clearance back soon. Isn't that just kool? The Kamizars will be back in town! Yes, buddy! They can get away with DESTROYING classified info, stuff it in their socks [by accident forgetting the docs in their socks], stuff them down their pants, and get a slap on the wrist.
Bush has a perverse sense of right-and-wrong. If it's a Clinton crony, give'em a pass. If it's a patriot, take away clearance and maybe even call them 'vigilantes'.

Completely correct. See my post on this subject in the duplication of this article, directly above in the FR forum.

Yeah. It's sickening.

Seems like Bush might be intimidated in regards to Berger, or maybe he is just not personally involved with the process there. As far as Able Danger, there is no doubt that Bush is covering up. Even though Clinton's bad actions were a hundred times worse than Bush's honest mistakes, Bush does have something to hide.
