OLED was invented by Kodak and licensed out to others.
I just went and got the mail, and in it is the Consumer Reports annual electronics issue, November 2005. Has lots of advice on HDTVs and talks about plasma sets. You might want to get a copy and check out what it has to say. I'll send this as a Freepmail as well, in case you've stopped reading this thread.

Me on the other hand, spend *way* too much of
my time in front of one screen or another, so,
better, brighter, bigger, lighter, lower power use,
less eye strain..these are points of daily inteest
to me. The eyes are allready going to a degree...
Had to get glasses for the first time
last year..can't imagine the're going to get
*better* as the years go on.
*Carbon* based.
The color saturation is better than many new tubes marketed today.
Oh. I had visions of squid giving up their cells for our entertainment centers.
It certainly didn't look right when I saw it on the thread.
