Of course not. Those companies that keep underbidding everyone else, and lowering the rates while everyone else's expenses go up, couldn't possibly be hiring illegals. (Do we really need a /sarcasm tag?)
No, really!
I honestly can't say if this is an example of an illegal alien driving a truck, but I know for a fact that it's a big problem. There's a local company near me that hires illegals, and underbids the other companies. While everyone else's expenses from fuel go up an up, this company's expenses are going down. There are so many illegals driving, that the rates keep going down instead of up. While American truck drivers are finding it harder to get the endorcement to haul hazardous materials, illegals are being handed CDLs with haz-mat endorcements left and right. When you're driving, and you see a haz-mat plaquard, there's a pretty good chance the driver is an illegal alien.
The article, of course, makes no mention of what type of "truck" was involved, just possibly because of the situation that you mention. Couldn't do without those cheap hazmat drivers, doncha know. And any sort of public airing of the situation might result in pressure to knock off the hiring. I mean, it's possible....
If the general public had any idea the dangerous chemicals that are being moved on our highways, they'd have a hissy fit. And if they knew how many illegal aliens are hauling those rolling bombs, they wouldn't sleep at night.
