300+ Moon Bats, 2 FReepers, what's wrong with this picture?!!

Ms. B and I were at BNAS this morning. I arrived at 7:30 and the opponents were already set up at their post. Ms. B got held up in traffic, and we weren't able to set up across the street from them until 9:00 or so.

Two news channels (8 and 13) and a reporter from the Times Record were there. I'm just wondering where everyone else was! I know I haven't been around much lately, but has support for our troops fallen apart that much in Maine?!

Was it just poor planning, or did everyone else have more important things to do? I'm glad I was released by my doctor to be able to drive yesterday so that at least two of us were there! I'm really disappointed right now. :(

Just in case you needed a reminder of why we were out there today...this message was waiting for me from my hubby when I got home. :)

"It is with a ping of saddness that I find I can not have you to myself this day, but that small hint is lost in a foaming sea of joyous pride in knowing what you are doing. I pray all goes well and that God has His hand over you all as you are on the right side of this issue. Many times I have had to field the questions of why I would have come back, such as 'what are you a war junkie?' or 'whats the matter...you don't love your wife?' You know what I say to them? NOTHING. You know why? Because they could neer understand, it is beyond their comprehension that there are those of us that have chosen to give some of our freedoms so that the rest might keep theirs. As every soldier knows, it is at the cost of their mixture of blood and tears that the freedoms of the masses have been won, and by that same mixture of blood and tears, bourne out of undieing devotion to all that is right and true, upholding the honor of the soldiers of freedoms sweet song. It is never easy to hear those questions as I know the answer, but how is a soldier to explain that in the end, when the shells are raining down and the lead hail that bring only pain, bourne out of the purest and thickest of blackened evil, the only reason that he ran back into the storm of fiercest hell unleashed before him, was soely because he knows that the soldier he is running to would have come back for him. So when they ask, I just say nothing, so as not to ever betray their trust in me by not being able to explain." -Tank

There is more, but I'll not bore you with the mushy stuff! ;)

From what I understand there were supposed to be others who met at the edge of the base at 8:00 am. Then they were going to drive up together to the base gate...

The original thread for the counter-protest is here;
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1473538/posts

Were you in touch with Freeper snowrip at all? I can't imagine with all the pre-planning work she did (speaking to the officials and such) that she wouldn't show (unless there was a major problem...).

Anyway, it is disappointing...

I've also noticed that many freepers are coming onto the threads and basically trying to destroy the morale for counter-protesting Sheehan and such - saying we should ignore her... My thoughts on that are they were probably the ones saying that if we ignore Kerry (back in the 70s) he will just fade away. It doesn't happen - 30 years later he ran for PRESIDENT!

I was at the gate at 7:30...no one except the VFP were there. I'm not sure what happened. Perhaps general miscommunication. I hadn't even seen that thread until just now. Snowrip has been sick all week with the flu and couldn't make it. We had hoped everyone else would still come though.

Yeah, I figured the threads were hard to see here on FR. They keep moving them down to "Announcements" for some reason instead of leaving them in the Activism slot. We'd get a lot more response if they were left in the activism spot... Oh well.

I sure hope Snowrip is feeling better soon.

:) thanks, I'll pass it along.

Other FReepers might think that if we ignore them they will go away. To me it's not a matter of them vs. us on the issues, it's a matter of our troops seeing that someone is standing up for what they are fighting for. I don't care that we were outnumbered, what I care about is the fact that there wasn't enough of us to even get noticed by anyone. The only way the troops will see that the groups like VFP aren't speaking for everyone is if we continue to speak as loudly as we can. I'm sure a lot of people are tired...I'm tired of being alone, but I will continue to show my support in any way that I can even after the last soldier comes home.

Sorry, just needed to get that off my chest. I'm really feeling defeated today. Thanks for listening :)

Hey no problem! I'm happy to listen. (o:

I also agree with everything you've said. I know I've heard that the troops do hear about our counter-protests and it makes them happy. That makes it worth it.

You take care and have a good rest of the weekend!

Glad you made it home!
I'm stiff and sore and resemble a cooked lobster myself!
I heard them flying, but couldn't see them from my house. Wish I'd had the energy to stay and watch them!
Glad to keep you company today, thanks for helping me out.
Let me know when we can have some more fun.

Hugs back!
Mrs. Tank

6 o'clock news isn't on...preempted by tennis and football. I don't know if I'll be awake for 11 o'clock, but I'm recording both channels, thanks to DVR! :)

I'm interested to see what's in tomorrow's paper. So far nothing on any of their websites either.

I've got some projects to finish for church tomorrow, so I'm going to go finish those up. I'll check in before I go to bed.

I had some sort of stomach bug yesterday and slept until 9:30 this morning. AMD worked. I never could get any other Military family members to make the trip with me anyway.

You ladies done good - if one active duty hero or vet saw you, it was worth it. Those moonbats will not go unopposed. And yes - I've seen the "don't give her the attention crowd" here on FR. I'm glad they're not the ones in control in this country right now. I will not stand idly by and let the Ditch Witch and her crew of washed up hippy has beens and stupid boneheaded college student hippy wannabees say whatever they want without at least making sure people know that there are some out here who say she's wrong. That happened during the Vietnam war. Never again - not while there is breath in my body. *HUGS!*

Thanks! I've been AWOL from FR for a while and am just now getting to your post.

Once the newspaper stories on the event came out, I found out that one of the ones protesting with the moonbats has a son in the Vermont Guard...I can only assume it's the same unit as my husband! I didn't have the heart to tell dh about it. That was hard for me to take.
