Rap mogul Jay-Z is standing behind Def Jam colleague Kanye West in the wake of the latter's comments during Friday's telethon to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina. As previously reported, West declared that "George Bush doesn't care about black people" and that America is set up "to help the poor, the black people, the less well-off as slow as possible."
"I'm backing Kanye 100%," Jay-Z tells Billboard by phone from London. "This is America. You should be able to say what you want to say. We have freedom of speech."
Jay-Z admits he shares some of West's views about the slow response to the disaster. "It's really numbing," he says. "You can't believe it's happening in America. You wonder, what's going on? Why were people so slow to react? I don't understand it."
Although Jay-Z says he hasn't "spoken to anyone about doing a concert event" to benefit Katrina victims, he says he wants to speak with Sean "Diddy" Combs about starting a fund exclusively to aid African-Americans in times of crisis. "Just in case anything like this happens in the future, we can do what the elder Bush and [former President Bill] Clinton are doing for our people specifically."
Maybe they can do it along the lines of Live8. They could hold a "Hurricane Awareness" concert, raise zero money for victims of Katrina, and all of the singers could be given more $10,000 watches to add to their collection. Heck, maybe we should have these singers paid for taking the time out of their busy schedules to host a charity event!
These people are outta their damned minds.
Your freedom of speech is on your own dime.
You pay for the broadcast time and then say what you want.
These people seem to be too stupid to know better.
Frickin' idiots.
Someone needs to ask these guys if they even voted in the last election.
JAY-Z DOESN'T CARE ABOUT WHITE PEOPLE!
I see, no word about the atrocities committed against the survivors by other survivors in New Orleans.
I guess those young children raped and murdered meant nothing to Jay-Z and Kanye.
And no realization that the mayor is the one accountable.
Is Beyonce still dating this turkey?
JayZ, you may have raised yourself out of the ghetto and become rich, but your mind has stayed far behind, imo.
Excuse my ignorance but, who the hell is Jay-Z anyway? Disregard that. I really don't care who he/it? is.
Well shiz! I don't care about "black" people either.
I care about productive citizens, of any color, that are trying to do the right thing and help THEMSELVES recover for a devatating tragedy.
And these same "celebrities" quoted in this article have the gall to accuse other people of being racist?
I have never heard of any of these idiots before!
Who cares what these brain donors think.
It's the most assinine and divisive thing to say. It's classic Liberalism. Democrats (Nagin and Blanco) get a pass.
The more they talk, the more elections we win.
I hope they never stop.
Does the NFL realize who watches their games. Of course they don't. Besides most football fans don't watch football for the sideshow. I mean freakshows. LOL!!!
If it weren't for Republicans, Jay-Z would be picking cotton.
"...he says he wants to speak with Sean "Diddy" Combs about starting a fund exclusively to aid African-Americans in times of crisis."
Does this also mean he wants the honky to sit the next one out to showcase how it can be done right?
This guy wears Che-shirts at his concerts. I think it was captured in a video. Screw him.
What do you get when you put Kanye and Jay-Z together?
One brain cell.
J-who?
What's with all these stupid names, puff daddy changed it to p-diddy, now he's changed it to something else.
"This guy wears Che-shirts at his concerts"
R u series?
These idiots are going to get us all killed. They dont even understand what they're doing. If he believes in communism, he should give up all of his money and go live in North Korea or Cuba.
I watched the tyson fight a few months ago, he had a Che and Mao tattoo.
It's times like these I'm glad I'm not an NFL fan.
Or a rap fan.
Don't you feel the hip hop love in this crowd?
Yeah. I looked it up, and he wore the shirt at his MTV Unplugged concert. Unplugged rapper, geez. Anyway, the shirt is visible on the cover of the accompanying CD, but you can't really make out Che too well. Funny thing is, I did a search, and a little punk commie was furious that he wears the shirt and calls himself "Jay Guevara." He's mainly mad because he referred to himself as "Che Guevara with bling." You can imagine how that got his little commie anti-materialist beeber stuned.
Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter was featured in an article (and on the cover) of the October 2005 edition of WatchTime magazine. I shook my head ruefully as I read how the great company Audemars Piguet created three versions of the Royal Oak Offshore Jay-Z 10th Anniversary Limited Edition watches:
Each of these watches apparently comes delivered with an Apple iPod that has been preloaded with all of his so-called music. Why would this great and fabled Swiss watch company cheapen their image by becoming associated with this silly knucklehead?

If they actually create a blacks-only fund, we desperately need someone to start a fund for ONLY WHITE PEOPLE. It looks like a lot of WHITE PEOPLE actually followed the evacuation orders and left town. It looks like a lot of BLACK PEOPLE, including the mayor with his 400 parked city buses, stayed behind and expected the feds to rush in 5 seconds after the storm and save their asses.
Because of Kanye West's "people," this natural disaster quickly turned into a mess of starvation, stealing, murder, rape and mayhem. Racist pigs like Jay-Z and West can go bitch to the choir on BET. The rest of America isn't gonna buy the crap they're selling.
You've got FReepmail. Didn't want to sidetrack the Jay-Z antics thread by posting here.

And for one of these thugs to be a real rapper they must knock up some ho's, and have some kids out of wedlock that they don't claim.... they don't care about them either.

Great...Another ignorant racist heard from.
I guess if you are half black, you get half the money of the others. A Caucasian who came from South Africa is an African-American. Does he get some money?
Ask them to spell George Bush and ask them who is the Vice president.I did this once in a black area in the city I am from. Honestly No one knew.
No one should watch until things change,The only way to get results is by taking action.Don't watch. When rating are down, their change their tune.
I guess those young children raped and murdered meant nothing to Jay-Z and Kanye.
/B> Of course not. They're part of the words in a new song most likely.
If he does that some random white person should sue for racial descrimination. Gota love how PC always says that descrimation is always a one way stree with the poor oppressed black man always being the one short changed.
"I'm backing Kanye 100%," Jay-Z tells Billboard by phone from London. "This is America. You should be able to say what you want to say. We have freedom of speech."
I guess by "we" he's talking of blacks, cause it's for true that whites have no such freedom.
For the MONEY, of course----
"The crap that comes out these idiots mouths would carry far less weight if we just ignored it..."
The rapper-racist serves a culture that has 80% of its children born out of wedlock and 50% of its males either in prison, on probation, or awaiting trial. We've lost 2 or 3 generations of african-americans b/c of primitives like him.
Kanye West who?
Your own brotha sold you out.
No buses, no planning, and a lot of dead people.
I think there really is a prejudice against Southerners in general. I think if a disaster hit the Hamptons, the fed assistance would've poured in lightning fast.
Duz Any1 Kare?! NO!
Get this filth out of here!
Jay-Z's face reminds me of a fat cabbage patch doll face. He be one ugly mo fo.
