"More like thinking outside the box. It must be frustrating for you to KNOW that if America would just do what you want everything would be perfect, but every year the voters reject your wisdom and vote for another Republican or rat."

Yes, I am sure the President Bush does feel boxed in by the oath he swore twice upon a bible. I imagine his dishonesty "must be frustrating" for Rose Sprinkles who just became a widow thanks to one of your illegal aliens, Juan Bibinz. It "must be frustrating" for Austin and Logan Sprinkles, who lost their father thanks to your illegal alien. I am sure his family are very frustrated by the negligence of President on the southern border, and the "Luvya Dubya" sycophants who enable his negligence.

"Congress writes the budget. Dubya can mearly sign it or VETO. Dubya cannot cut funding for border agents. You seem to know very little about goverment. Please educate yourself."

Ignorant, spouting off crap without knowing the facts. Bush signed the law, but it apparently meant as much to him as "I have no more territorial demands in Europe." And I did make one typo, congress did not authorize 1000, it was 10000 over the next five years. Bush signed it into LAW!

"Find me an "open borders" member on this website."

Show me a member who posts "Do you write this drivel or cut and paste from stormfront" and I will show you an "open borders" member.

"Why do you support a guest worker program that has a built in preference for workers from Mexico?"

I wonder that too. Seems to me if we give any nation preference it would be the Philippines, they have no desire to annex American territory, unlike Mexico.

Nice. I have no idea why you used those quotation marks. And I was responding to a member that has posted from Vdare.com, hardly an authority on international tax matters, and a website banned for its racist rhetoric from FR.

So you think my opposition to racist websites, and the members here that link to them, makes me an open-borders advocate? ROTFLMAO. About as much as your opposition to me makes you a limp-wristed Bolshevik, a la Ralph Nader.

Your friend nuker still thinks you are in favor of open borders. His evidence? You used the word "stormfront."

Do you think he has Stormfront set as his homepage? Oops, now I'm doing it! [chuckle]

For the record here is the entire exchange:

"To: Travis McGee

And furthermore, business owners get tax credits for hiring foreigners here on work visas, but none for hiring Americans. That's just a damn crime.

Where did you get that notion? Vdare, or Stormfront?

I do not see where he posted this from "Vdare," it looks to me like he did not quote anyone in his post. Perhaps he has posted from "Vdare" in the past, but when did he post from "Stormfront?" I checked out Vdare, the lead article is by Edwin S. Rubenstein, I wonder how popular he would be over at Stormfront?

I do recall several threads that linked to Stormfront, one only a couple weeks ago. It was about some Stormfronters (perhaps it was actually singular) who were going to Crawford to support Cindy Sheehan.

Also noticed that Michelle Malkin is posted at Vdare, she is one cute "racist!"

Technically speaking youre probably right. There arent many vocal supporters of true open borders on FR. (Although Im sure there are at least one or two anarcho-capitalist libertarians floating around) The thing is that there are quite a few arguing that any non-criminal, non-terrorist worker should be allowed in country with little wait. Not an open border to be sure. A radically softened border, yes.

Again, that member's opinons concerning international tax law are wrong, and the one time he tried to support the comments he was making, he linked to a website that is not welcome here. The sole purpose of the "article" he linked was to whip up hysteria against legal immigrants. He fell for it, and probably so would you. I will not, because I have some familiarity with immigration and tax law.

Incidentally, that website ain't banned here because it posts articles from Michelle Malkin, so quit your BS.

I responded to the same post:

""And furthermore, business owners get tax credits for hiring foreigners here on work visas, but none for hiring Americans. That's just a damn crime."

Actually the subsidy is indirect, often when a position is filled by an H1B visa holder a good part of the compensation package is expense money rather than wages. the one who employs the HIB worker still deducts it just like wages, but the money received to cover expenses is not taxable. So the American worker is placed at a disadvantage vis a vis the H1B worker. The US Treasury does lose revenue as a result of the outsourcing, and the employer gets even cheaper labor as a result. It takes a little sleight of hand but the employer does get subsidized."

The subject matter concerns work visas such as the H1B, which is not the same as a legal immigrant. If they were a legal immigrant they would have a green card and not require a work visa. In fact it would make no sense to get an H1B for a legal immigrant since H1B visas are subject to a cap (in theory).

Finally, we're getting somewhere.

. . . the money received to cover expenses is not taxable.

Wrong. Payments to cover expenses qualify as compensation, and thus are taxable, much like the use of a company car for personal use.

The subject matter concerns work visas such as the H1B, which is not the same as a legal immigrant.

Other than possibly the L visa, H visas are the surest and quickest way to achieve Legal Permanent Resident status. Which makes the notion that H visa holders engage in criminal tax evasion that much more laughable, since most of them want to become U.S. citizens in the first place.

Darn, I'm going to Singapore at the end of next week and am very saddened to learn that the law has been changed so that I now must pay tax on my expense money when I travel. This must be a new change in the law, I traveled to Southern California in late 2003 and did not declare the money gained paid me after I turned in my expense report. Funny I did not see a line on the 1040 to declare this income.

No change in the law. Do you plan to use your expense account for legitimate business expenses, or do you plan to buy yourself some gifts? If the latter, I suggest you speak with a tax professional.

Back to the matter at hand. If I get a job with a company, and that company purchases my house, and stocks it with food, then those purchases qualify as compensation, and thus are taxable.

You have corrupted this discussion with your invective and abstract assumptions that I no longer care to continue the discourse.

I'm confused why you bothered to reply when you could have ended the conversion 2 posts ago. I have written nothing invective to you, and I have been courteous to all who have shown me the same consideration.

Look moron, I owned a very successful machine shop that, by luck and opportunity I morphed into other businesses.

Even a blind pig will find an acorn in the mud on occasion.

I don't need your theoretical ranting to tell me where the buck comes from, where it ends up, or accuse me of being a socialist. Take your argument and stuff it. And if you work for me, you're fired!

Some people come to FR to discuss and argue the issues. Those people develop thick skins rapidly. Some people come to learn. These people often don't comment, they read. Some people come for camaraderie of like minded people. There is nothing necessarily wrong with that unless they become indignant at the thought that some one might disagree with them or challenge their opinion on a public forum.

You have a really thin skin. Have a nice day.

I had a vague recollection,

You remembered. That is sweet.

actually you kept a link on your previous "about" page where you warned Travis not to post to you!

And you read my about page! I had been afraid it was a waste of time.

Holy smokes! I'm practically famous.

It's called research, you might want to give it a try sometime.

You seem far more interested in me than I am interested in me. Thank you for remembering a 10 month old conversation between me and another poster, but let me warn you there is only so much Once-Ler to go around. It's fine to admire me from afar but don't let your infatuation become an unhealthy obsession.

Have a nice day.

Ode to FROBL's (Dedicated to Once-ler)

We must fight the Nazis, its the call of the FROBL's
But lose an argument and they respond like Goebbels
For when shown the facts and logic they cannot confront
They must retort "Did you get that from Stormfront?"
