Jay Sekulow Now Says: No Abortion Questions For John Roberts?
"The American View" Radio Talk Show ^ | 9/4/2005 | "The American View" Radio Talk Show

Our 21st nationally-syndicated, one-hour radio show, “The American View,” co-hosted by myself and recovering Republican” John Lofton, was broadcast this past Sunday in 38 cities in 22 states.

mp3Hear it now (10,618 kb)

On this program, we discuss Jay Sekulow’s strange view that Bush Supreme Court nominee John Roberts, in his confirmation hearing (which starts September 6), must not be asked about, and must not answer questions about, abortion or any abortion-related court decisions such as Roe v. Wade. We say this is strange because Sekulow and his organization, the “American Center For Law & Justice,” have raised millions of dollars pushing the pro-life issue! We interview a Bush-worshipping cheerleader for John Roberts (it does not go well once he sees we are not also cheering for Roberts). And we discuss God and Hurricane Katrina.

To let us know what you think about this show — and we hope you will — email JLof@aol.com, or join the conversation in our Forum.

The fix is in ... the more I hear about *why* I should support the confirmation John Roberts and what the man has said and done over the past two decades, the more concerned I become should this man sit on the court. Of course, with Bush-supported, pro-abortion chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee Arlen Specter the ringmaster of the upcoming circus, I'm convinced the fix is in.

Maybe the libs have decided to hold their fire and give him a pass and take on Rehnquist's successor?

Listening now, but I think the "no answer" stance is born out of Bader-Ginsberg being permitted to refrain from addressing her views on the same subjects.

I have watched the TV ad featuring Bader-Ginsberg's vanilla replies, and the endorsement ad concludes showing her confirmation vote 96-3, despite her refusals to answer senate questions.

I'm thinking your thinking is exactly right. The public will become tired of a tooth pulling for every SCOTUS candidate plus Chief Justice.

I'm thinking, Judge Roberts response to every question should be something like this:

"I will follow Justice Bader-Ginsberg's advice..it would be inappropriate for me to comment on that"

His answers and hearing mean absolutely nothing.

As Souter has proved, once confirmed, it matters not that he lied and misrepresented himself. He gained his lifetime appointment.

Thanks for the flag, Ricardo.

I am very disappointed with Sekulow for taking the right to life off the table. For the past two years it appears that the issue has been a low priority for him at best.
