Putting more important points aside temporarily, one could state that the last thing one needs in a Chief Justice (or any other top functionary) is overweening ego - they tend to develop it soon enough, so the less of it they start with, the better. This kind of what you call "personal flaws" ["because I could do it"] is to be considered absolutely disqualifying, even before one goes into technicalities like his disbarment. Therefore, your post is to be charitably considered as a piece of irony.

I do believe Clinton began as a centrist in his party and did sign the welfare reform bill and so forth. Seriously, Clinton played to the middle for political reasons. Once on the Supreme Court there is no political pressure.
