People told us the police went in there so they started shooting at the police. So the police left. They (looters) just set the place on fire. We saw it burning and we saw the fire department not even going near the place because the looters were going nuts.

Boston Herald is mostly OK - it's only the Globe that's the commie rag owned by the NY slimes. I'm from there but haven't lived there in decades - but that's my understanding.

We have seven cats also, and I was kind of wondering how we would evac all of them if it came to that .... Good to see it can be done!
As for how one gets seven cats into a motel ... well, when we moved from Texas to California, we stopped at Motel 6's (which accepts pets) and told them all we had, ahem, "a cat." Didn't mention the other six ... but we were also VERY careful not to let our kitties trash the rooms. Perhaps in an emergency situation, a motel might be more willing to let all the critters in without resorting to mendacity.

I seeking one of the old Phillips and Roger's conversions for my Model 686 S&W....20 plus different calibers can be used. Regardless of what ya find per se for resupply as long as it's in the range they suggest.....
I'd have to go with a passenger riding shotgun w/ my M1A and I'd pack my Benelli M1 for a road trip through hells basement aka NOLA.

I figure that one keeps their eyes peeled looking for renegade road blocks. If one sees one then soften them up from about 1200 yards away with the .50BMG.
Next go in fast with both AR-15's shooting out of the back seat windows. Front passenger using the 25rd 12ga street sweeper for clean up. The driver, having trained to shoot left handed manning a Glock while driving.
They would never know what hit them when the Eaker clan rolled by!

Whaaaa ? Yer saying ya wouldn't stop and try to reason with the
armed looters poor hungry abandoned folks begging politely for food and water ?
Portable welder, a fuel trailer ,a dump truck with the snow plow attached and reinforced, scrap steel from the city yard here in poohville is my mad max fantasy roadblock runner plan.
I saw one guy and his lady towing loaded kayaks on little trailers with their bicycles and they got further / faster that any car or truck trying to escape NOLA's traffic jams.
I purchased a KLR650 Motorcycle after the last big quakes out in Kali afew years ago and observed how well those bypassed all the damage. It has range and ability to get through the jams or damaged roads so it got a place in the garage. Good little rig.
The USMC 1030 (klr650 w/ a diesel engine) bike is diesel they get 110 or more MPG and the bikes all have a 6 gallon tank. That'll get me past the no fuel stations close to a disaster and if rationed to 5-10 gallons per customer elsewhere it'll top off the tank every time.
Plans are all out the window when pucker factor takes over so have what ever in place in a turn key ready status is my suggestion.....
