"He has an MBA from Tulane."
He must have "looted" that degree.
Where was the stupid governor? They are both responsible for what happened. Now the lying news media will put the blame on the Republicans, but not everybody will buy it. Most Americans watched the Weather Channel and heard the warnings. We saw the mayor and the governor come on TV all weekend, and they were literally frozen. They had no ideas or plans for the state. Liberal socialists can't think or do anything for themselves. It behooves the voters in every state to look at what happened in Louisiana and vote accordingly in the future.
*grin*
Imagine if Mr Bush had gone on TV before the storm hit and said he was sending troops there in anticipation of looting and lawlessness. The mayor and others would have screamed "racism!!"
Yet another Democrat mess Bush has to mop up. Blanco and Nagin should be forced from office.
The mayor and politicians have known for YEARS that the levies were not capable of withstanding a Cat 4 or higher hurricane. Estimates to bring them up to Cat 5 were about $250 million. If it took 5 years to complete, that would have been about $50 per resident of NO.
I suspect that the NO politicians embezzled MUCH more than that from the coffers in the past 5 years.
Mr. Mayor also fails to mention that he was supposed to order the mandatory evacuation of New Orleans a full 72 hrs. before the hurricane hit. NOT 24 hrs. He himself cost countless lives by adopting a wait and see attitude in the days before being hit.

Half of the 1 million people who live in the metro area evacuated as Georges drove toward the city, resulting in gridlock on the roads. Since Georges, city officials designed a plan that would provide a more orderly evacuation. It is to begin 72 hours before a storm hits, and end when the winds become too dangerous for motorists, according to Hijuelos.
The challenge will be convincing people to leave some three days before a hurricane makes landfall.
The Federal Government's role is long-term relief, the role of state in local governments is to be the front-line for evacuation and immediate order. The Federal Government is doing it's job.

Uh, look at #4 for the reason the school buses weren't operable.
Meanwhile, these school busses in NO which lie ruined by the flood waters, could have been used by the Mayor to get people out of the city BEFORE the hurricane hit.
And the worthless American news media would have spread the lies. You can see how the liberal news media are working on this to blame Bush. The only blame I give Bush is keeping the borders open and giving billions of our dollars to Mexican illegals, instead of working on America's infrastructure.
I know Clinton is to blame for not giving more money for the levies in New Orleans, wonder if the lying news people will let that out? Wonder if the Republicans will?
Heard the same interview and came to the same conclusions. I cannot for the life of me figure out why the mandatory evacuation was not started earlier.
The Mayor needs to stop yelling at everyone else, sit back and reflect on HIS mistakes. But, in typical welfare state culture, he will continue to blame someone else while waiting for his monthly handout.
Did someone say...
Michael Moore? Ask, and ye shall receive a link!
Sadly, knowing New Orleans from the inside, Nagin was the best thing that could have happened to New Orleans. He really cared but was doomed from the start. If there is anyone out there who REALLY knows New Orleans, I'd love to debate the issue regarding the city that care forgot.
There you have the Democrat leadership mentality. "Not only is it someone else's job to fix this problem, but I reserve the right to dictate the kind of help that's acceptable. And afterward I'll feel free to criticize everyone who provided a solution, and blame them for their solutions' inadequacy."
It would be sweet justice if the American people finally made the Dems pay for 40 years of irresponsibility and neglect. Never before have the consequences been so apparent.
>>Andrew, '92, Miami (Gov(R) Jeb Bush)<<
Jeb wasn't gov. in '92.
He was hosting a "Hurricane Party" as usual.
Ping.
The rest of the thread is interesting, too.
"Sadly, it seems the people of NO, their local government, & state government prepare much better for Mardi Gras, than they did for this major storm, that everyone knew would come one day."
People get the government they deserve. Citizens of NO - this is what happens when you vote gangsters into office. I live 25 miles outside of Philly. The Honorable John Street is no better than this piece of sh*t. A hoodlum with his hands in everyone's pockets. I hate to think what would happen if this happened to Philly - population more than double that of NO.
