I saw an ocean full of dead bodies after the tsunami... what's the big deal showing ONE corpse from LA?

Shep showed a dead body along the freeway. How low can you go to grandstand? Things are bad in N.O., but he didn't have to show it.

If this is what it takes to get someone off their butt, then this is what it takes. Sorry it offends you, but something needs to be done.

It's the news. Sometimes I think people need a dose of REAL reality, gruesome though it may seem.

I hasten to add, however, that I am no fan of Shep.

Its about time someone started showing the truth of the situation. If you had been watching the footage shot over the last few days you would have spotted several bodies that the reporters just ignored. I watches choppers lifting people off roofs with obviously dead people laying on adjacent roofs and not a single word about it.

The truth has to be told, and as long as they are long range shots and no faces shown it NEEDS to be seen.

Get off Shep's back and stop whining. You want to whine, try complaining about the political corrrectness brigade that doesn't want to mention bodies at all and won't even mention looters.

Perhaps the government will do something now. I don't care that some say it is against the law for the military to get involved because that is a BS excuse. The government ignores immigration laws every day, why can't they do the same thing in this case?

How would you like the body of your family member to be shown on national TV?

Well, considering the last time he asked someone what they were doing there, he got the F-bomb in reply, he probably figured this one was safe.

I think Shep does a great job... it is terribly difficult to keep it going without a script hour after hour in a communication vacuum. Dead bodies? Terrible. But this is reality. We accuse other networks of spin and coverup but this IS the truth, no?

I prefer more reality in my news, the destruction should be shown unsanitized to wake the country up: get people to help out, or perhaps pay closer attention to warnings next time. And maybe, just maybe, the Left will STFU.

Same for war and terrorism, show it all and let the public see who we're up against.

If there's corpses...then that's what's there is...there's too many people not wanting to believe the horror down there...I doubt Shep/Fox is doing this for any grandstanding reasons....

Shep is a liberal. Fox could fire Shep and Giraldo.

Let's just whitewash the news. It will make you feel better.

Shep Smith is the biggest jacka** on FOX. He thinks if he sees something wrong the rescue operation should halt and run to his location and answer questions. I swear someone is going to tell him to "F" off on air. I was listening to his report when someone did tell him "none of your ****ing business" on Sunday.

I disagree... the purpose of the News is to report the News..
not to censor the distasteful...

Reality is reality, the same mindset prevents the MSM from showing the 9/11 victims jumping to their deaths.

The bodies in the streets are a direct result of a negligent and incompetent local and state government.

And maybe the NOPD as well.

Why does everyone hate Shepherd Smith so much?

He seems ok to me.

Well, reporting from an overpass w/hundreds of stranded, and some now dying! refugees, w/officials within eyeshot, but inexplicably ignoring them, just may do that to a person, IMO.

In human terms, it's known as frustration and desperation.

They were showing bodies on CBS last night as well.

Unavoidable if there are really that many bodies.

How do you mean? If the city is indeed strewn with corpses, the reality of the situation needs to be shown.

I agree. This is a real wakeup call for all of us in terms of dissaster. It CAN happen in our country. It's not just some far-away third-world location that has corpses laying in the street. This dissaster may bring about some pretty far-reaching changes in terms of preparedness in every state in the nation. Shameful situation in N.O.
