President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.

Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

Just saw the first article (German magazine) that directly blames the N.O. fiasco to Bush. Unbelievable!!!!

August 31, 2005

FORMER CLINTON ADVISOR

"No One Can Say they Didn't See it Coming"

By Sidney Blumenthal

In 2001, FEMA warned that a hurricane striking New Orleans was one of the three most likely disasters in the U.S. But the Bush administration cut New Orleans flood control funding by 44 percent to pay for the Iraq war.

Biblical in its uncontrolled rage and scope, Hurricane Katrina has left millions of Americans to scavenge for food and shelter and hundreds to thousands reportedly dead. With its main levee broken, the evacuated city of New Orleans has become part of the Gulf of Mexico. But the damage wrought by the hurricane may not entirely be the result of an act of nature.

As much as I dislike Shep Smith for being a girlie-man he is right about the problems with the evacuations.

Why in the world couldn't the local authorities put out one of those sales signs with directions.

Looks like to me that someone one is dropping the ball on leadership.

It should be the mayor and then the Governor in charge but it seems they just want to ring their hands and yell oh me!

I'll bet before this is over that Bush gets the blame.

Already that idiot Robert F. Kennedy is blaming Barbour of Mississippi for Katrina.

Now that moronic Moon Bat Cindy Sheehan is blaming Bush.

So the snakes and rats are crawling out of the left wing Democrat sewer.

Things are happening:

Watching my local TV station KRBC in Abilene.
C130's packing up and leaving Dyess, stuff moving from Ft. Hood etc.
What it took was the President to kick this thingy in the butt.
You can bet that the boot has been firmly emplanted.

I agree, but now is not the time for hand wrining and recrimination. People are wander the 10 Freeway moving based on rumors with no food or water. Looks like a third-world effort so far.

Just curious. Besides Russia and Venezuela. Has anyone else offered to send help to LA? I understand from FOX that donations are not coming in to the Red cross, etc....

How much of the apathy is due to the looting?

Thank you for the thread. I found out last night that we lost everything. I live in Gautier but evacuated to Atlanta on Sunday morning

You didn't lose everything. You lost stuff. God bless you for taking your family out of harms way.

You nailed it, Okie. It is always someone else's fault. Couldn't be that Governor, or that Mayor. Nope, gotta be the bid ol' ebil GWB.

And, Cindy needs a clue. Lots of people are suffering, not only her. Wanna buy her one?
