New childrens book from World Ahead features Clinton, Ted Kennedy as cartoon villains. Hailed as alternative to stories of 'gay kings and socialist fish.'
Los Angeles, Calif. (PRWEB) August 23, 2005 Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy are often the butt of conservative jokes, but now they're being portrayed as shrewish cartoon characters in an upcoming book meant for kids?!?
World Ahead is pleased to announce the upcoming release of "Help! Mom! There Are Liberals Under My Bed!" (World Ahead Publishing; hardcover: $15.95; ISBN 0-9767269-0-4) by Katharine DeBrecht. The full-color picture book tells the story of two brothers who open a lemonade stand only to encounter a Kennedy-esque mayor determined to tax away their profits while a pants-suit clad Hillary outlaws sugary drinks and an ACLU lawyer confiscates their picture of Jesus. With left-wing books like 'Rainbow Fish' and 'King & King' flooding our nation's classrooms, 'Liberals Under My Bed' lets conservative parents share a story with their kids that reflects their values, while having fun doing it, says World Ahead president Eric M. Jackson. Not only is it important to teach kids about the American Dream, they must also understand that there are people out there who don't believe in freedom and traditional values.
Author DeBrecht was inspired to write the bookwhich is illustrated by Reuben Award winning artist Jim Hummelwhen her young son questioned her about why she was supporting George W. Bush in the 2000 election. Because the harder Daddy works and the more money he makes, the more money liberals want to take out of his pocket, Debrecht said. When her son then peered under the bed and asked Where are these liberals, Mom? the 'Help! Mom!' series was born.
Liberal pundit Alan Colmes has blasted the book as brainwashing on his radio show, and the usually staid Wall Street Journal called it politically abrasive children's literature, but Jackson dismisses complaints that the picture book's politics are too brazen for the Barney set. Liberals have been indoctrinating America's kids by stealth for years, scoffs Jackson. If this book was about gay kings or socialist fish they wouldn't complain. But traditional values? That's another story. Indeed, all signs suggest that conservatives are eager to embrace the book. Anti-tax guru Grover Norquist praised "Liberals Under My Bed" as a great way to teach kids about the American Dream, and KSFO radio host Melanie Morgan hailed it as the answer to a baseball mom's prayers.
"Help! Mom! There Are Liberals Under My Bed" will be available in bookstores nationwide on Sept. 20.
And "Heather has 2 Moms" is politically nuetral?????
Amazon better have it :-)
I think books about monsters , thieves, and murderers are a bit too violent for kids.
An illustrated story of Vince Foster in the park and Mary Jo in the water shouldnt be given to kids until they are 12 or 13.
That sounds like it might be a great book. If it has the appeal of classics like Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel, which I often read to my son when he was small because of the fond memories I had of the book from my childhood, then it's a definite winner.
The 'villains' don't necessarily have to be a Clinton or a Kennedy... these will change as years go by. It's the specter of what these odious individuals represent... socialism, government strangulation and secularism that must be portrayed as enemies of American freedom & free enterprise.
Could make a wonderful series of books.
This looks pretty scarey.

Well... the concept was great. Its execution leaves a lot to be desired. Those aren't 'award-winning' illustrations where I come from.
"It would be a 'labor of love' to illustrate."
The only color you would need would be red ;-)
My daughter mentioned this book the other day. It sounds great!!
I think "Rainbow Fish" is a good book. I can see how someone might take it as "redistribution of wealth", but I saw it as being about the evils of selfishness and the joys of self-sacrifice.
It sounds like another redistributionist story such as the new version of "The Little Red Hen" in which at the end the hen invites all the lazy animals to share the bread. The lefties also do the same to the "The Ant and the Grasshopper," an ancient Easop's fable, not letting the Grasshopper starve to death for his lack of industry and foresight, which was the moral of the story, but having the Ant invite him into his home. As long as they write their own soppy stories it's okay, but they should leave the old stories alone.
Have you noticed? The media has backed off of Hillary lately. Don't want her to peak too early.
The characters look like they're out of a Flash animation.
That picture is worth a thousand words. An image of Hillary under the bed with Ted Kennedy and a donkey brings on thoughts of Tiajuana .
I'll have to get a copy to send to my sister for her 2nd grade classroom.
