Wont be in my neighborhood until the middle of the night. Not the best time for tornadoes. I would rather it be daytime so I can duck.

In 1995, when my children were 10 and 11, we had an "un-tornado" go through our neighborhood at 1:30 am. What you hear about a "train" roaring through is correct. All four of us were awakened and instantly RAN to the basement; no one had to think about it or ask questions. If you have time to think about it, the storm is not a tornado.

The National Weather Service wouldn't call our storm a tornado because it appeared so suddenly that they weren't able to track it. (It wouldn't do to have the weather service be caught unawares, so they simply called it a major storm with "straight-line winds." /sarcasm) Our pictures show tree branches, lawn furniture and trash facing all 360-degrees. The 10-inch diameter maple tree in our front yard was nothing but an 8-foot tall toothpick. But it "wasn't" a tornado....

Hopefully the storms will pass you by. If you need to take shelter, you'll KNOW it--no matter what time of day or night.
