It isn't free. They charge real money for the vanity plates.

JN36TN

Okay, so what's wrong with this one? How could this one be construed as religious? It even has 36 instead of 316, so I don't get it at all. Someone on the highway will decipher this?

Mine used to say "PHIL 16"
...to which I added the necessary colon punctuation to make it "PHIL 1:6".
...received lots of "thanks, I needed to read that verse today" comments. One guy even pulled me over after following me for about three miles, to say that it was a "Word from the Lord to him that day". Apparently as he was driving/following me, he was looking up the verse. LOL...a miracle he didn't rear-end me while not paying attention.

So, I guess the DMV will accept the verse if it is obscure enough for the Biblically illiterate to not understand the context.

Best license plate ever...

Maybe it's just me, but I can't figure that one out. ("Assergy"? "Ass are gay"?)

Anyway, after seeing it in Car And Driver, I decided THIS is the best plate ever:

NVWSSV

(read it upside down)

It's the same thing. JN 3 6TN = John 3 16

I remember a story last year where a guy was fined because of his APPROVED license plate.

His was "MILF Lover." On his application he stated that MILF stood for Manual Intake Levitation Fluctuator.

But I'm one of those who has to have everything spelled out for me.

The meaning of most vanity plates eludes me, too.

For this guy, I'd like to suggest he use Roman numerals: "JohnIIIXVI"

So people can get all kinds of vile license plates (but the staff at Motor Vehicles pretend they don't understand the "hidden" meanings) but people can't get religious license plates?

Our rights being taken away, little by little.

In CA at least, they hire twenty-somethings to help the bureaucrats peruse applications for the most up-to-date obscenities and so on.

End Of Road For GOTMILF License Plate

End Of Road For GOTMILF License Plate

"Offensive" vanity tag yanked by Washington officials

JULY 21--This is the story of GOTMILF. In May 2002, Michael Syravong filed a "personalized license plate application"with Washington's Department of Licensing. GOTMILF was Syravong's first choice among the three possible personalized tags he listed on the state form (he would have settled for SUPL8EZ or RCKSTAR).

Asked for the meaning of GOTMILF, Syravong wrote, "Manual Inline Lift Fluctuator," which he would later claim was some kind of automotive gizmo. The 25-year-old software engineer's license plate choice was, amazingly, approved by bureaucrats who obviously never saw the film "American Pie" and were clueless about the acronym's real meaning.

The plate was not banned because of the First Amendment to the US Constitution.

It was banned because of a VERMONT law.

It would seem to be that you'd need to have a working knowledge of the Bible to understand the meaning of the plate.
I wonder if whoever denied that plate should allow: John 941?
