I agree. While defeating liberal rants with facts, evidence, and logic can sharpen one's debating skills, it does take time away from productive discussions with other conservatives. There's plenty of reasoned disagreement on this forum, so one can debate or just make one's own points as desired. I learn a lot here.

If you want uncensored, simply read user newsgroups. There are 10s of thousands of them, like alt.politics.conservative. But reading all the harassing and trivial posts is annoying and tedious. So people take the time to create forums that are “censored” for quality and philosophical compatibility. To spend 5 years in one and not be able to figure that out doesn’t speak will for you.

I understand what you mean. When I joined in 1999, it was a lot of fun to rip apart threads & posts by liberals. We did it with logical argument and used facts. Now, we use the viking kitties to "ZOT". To be fair, the liberal posters are not the quality they used to be either. They usually post & run...or post profanity. When FR became the huge success it is, we also became a huge target for the uber-stupid. It would be a major waste of our B/W resources to endlessly argue the same topic with them.

At times, I have felt like posting a vanity expressing my frustration with some posts or threads that seem to irritate me as well. I've not done so because I realize that this is a privately owned website and I am free to either hang around here or go somewhere else. However, the loony fringes and obscene have never appealed to me. I also realize that this website isn't "all about me".

Though at times I may get irked by something or other here, I don't believe there are any other discussion sites that offer what Free Republic offers either in content or quality.
