No. SLimbaugh is sooo nice and inoffensive himself that I can barely listen to himself. I sure as hell ain't listening to some wannabe.
I know but Rush isn't off that often and besides I think he has said he resides far outside of Baltimore/DC..plus he's got lectures he does and columns. The other fil-in's all actually do regular shows so they already have a regular studio to go to and simulcast or whatever its called..
What's with the callers "I was telling your screener". So annoying, just get on with your comment.
Belling...
The guy was and still is, a Liberal. (He once worked for NPR)
He is in the closet now, but generally peeks out when he can do damage to conservative candidates.
would you please add me to your ping list? thanks
If you have a broadband connection, you can buy a program called Replay Radio; it allows you to record an internet feed of Rush (or any other program streamed through one of many free feeds from various radio stations), and listen later.
That looks awesome. Thanks!
sorry, you must be delusional, or have mistaken him for someone else.
He is funny and insightful. He is very different breed of talk show hosts. I really enjoy when he comes on the show. He is by-far my favorite fill-in host. I specially enjoy when he invites Thomas Sowell, who is my favorite Economist. I read all of his books as a student of Economics. They are really awesome.
He is "black by popular demands."
You're on.
No, today's Rush replacement is extremely, and unnecessarily, rude to callers. In addition he is far beneath Rush's level of intelligence. Rush, as no doubt planned, should have no "job security" concerns.
You mean Mark Boring, don't you?
I still think the best fill-in host would be Bo Snerdley (James Golden).
What I dislike about Dr. Williams guest-hosting is that it automatically becomes "Let's Pretend 9/11 Never Happened" Day.
Either Rush should allow Dr. Williams to speak his mind on international Islamic terrorism (though I'd disagree with his Buchanan-like stance) or just not invite him at all.
Do you know that Rush is keeping Williams from speaking about terrorism?
So, what's his position? I know you mentioned Buchanan; do you mean that Williams thinks we should be isolated from the world, etc?
Well, I don't "know" what Rush has said to Dr. Williams, but I can say for a fact that in the last four years, whenever Dr. Williams is the guest host, he never talks about 9/11, the War in Afghanistan, the War in Iraq, the bombings in Bali or Madrid, etc. Nor does he ever take any phone calls on any such topic.
Even if the big news of the day involves the War on Terror, a Williams show will have three hours of ANY other topic
Early on, I complained on a FR thread that he should read a newspaper (or something like that). A fellow Freeper convinced me that Rush himself has forbidden Dr. Williams to speak on the subject.
I cannot say for sure what Dr. Williams' views are of the post-9/11 world, but that Freeper said that his libertarian streak probably brings him to the general area of the Pat Buchanan / Joe Sobran / Lew Rockwell isolationist point of view. And as a guess I would say that is probably correct.
Still, I would rather hear an interesting three-hour show with a person I disagreed with, than a three-hour show that pretends 9/11 never happened.
Well my personal foreign policy views were shaped post 9/11 I think. As someone that considers himself a Libertarian; I must say that it took 9/11 and our response afterward to come to my current opinion about foreign affairs. I don't think I ever would have gone along with the Woodrow Wilson / Franklin Roosevelt model pre-9/11.
I have days when I question it, I think it would be foolish not to rethink based on new evidence but I'm still firmly behind the neo-conservative model (for foreign policy).

I don't know about that. I have many days where I listen to Rush and I'm at odds with his thinking on things, but I listen anyway. Because irregardless, I know at the end of it, he's on "our" side.
You may be on to something about Williams in particular though. He probably does hold the line with regards to foreign policy. I say that because he's very firm on things and I don't think he would be changed by 9/11 even. I'm not even saying that's a bad thing. There are days when I even struggle with (as previously mentioned).
I still appreciate hearing Williams speak on economics, though. I always felt like that was sort of his niche and he's comfortable sticking with it. I saw him speak to the Young Conservative Coalition (hope I have the name right) back in early 2004 on CSPAN and he stuck very closely with his usual topics (fine by me). Maybe he's just more comfortable with that..who knows.
You coulda knocked me over with a feather when he spoke about the London bombings and domestic airport & subway searches in the third hour!
It's not exactly his opinion on the war in Iraq, but at least it's a post-9/11 recognition of Islamic terrorism! Maybe we'll get his opinion on the war next time.
My hat is off to the good doctor.
