Some of them rigged up enclosed showers right away, and they made that pool out of a water bag.
The reason they were there at Victory, is that Saddam had taken all the water from the rest of Iraq (leaving the people destitute) and put it into all those pools for his fun.
I got a chill just reading about your Easter experience in '04. Praise the Lord! What an incredible change in a country that needed so much to be freed!
If you don't mind my maternal showing off, this boy felt pretty good about what they had done too......
I still get a big grin on my face when I see this pic.............and have an incredible urge to tell him to get a little farther away from the edge!
Oath of Allegiance to the United States of America
Address:http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1450463/posts
The oath they swore, -- and one that every American should be required to swear.
Are you kidding? I LOVE seeing these! Not only is it your heroic son, but he's in my "old stomping grounds," too. I feel like I kind of know someone who helped fix things up a tad before I got there.
I have fond memories of the early, leaner days, but I'm also enjoying the more modern comforts that have evolved over time here. LOL
We have, through the commitment, bravery, skill and tenacity of our troops, taken them from 'bare bones' existence, to the hope of freedom and prosperity.
I am proud to have been an infinitesimal part of the process, and I am proud of every American who has served there, whether in the military, or as a civilian.
This is a grand and just cause, Allegra, and we should feel joy over this transformation. Unfortunately, the majority of Americans don't even KNOW about it because of the disgusting, anti-American, leftist MSM...........but don't let me get started on them......
Do we get to send 147 RATS out of the country?
I so agree and I have witnessed some of the most exciting things of my life here. I have no regrets about the decision I made to come because I have a front row seat for history in the making. I'm honored to be a part of it.
It's why I get so frustrated and angry when the MSM distorts and lies...but like you, I won't get started on that. LOL It's a happy day...our space shuttle's going to go again. When (not if) it goes off successfully, let's see 'em spin that.
Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!
But, it IS a happy day! And what's GOOD for America is BAD for the Democrats, so we can be extra happy today!
Yeah that's Victory alright...
they also sunk one of the bridges at the complex as well. They put up a temporary as they were fixing the real one.
That was Saddam's bedroom. We WERE gunning for his butt....
you should see what they did to Uday's Palace in Baghdad. You can't even enter it anymore.
THIS is what we need if America needs more people.
Not a bunch of border sneaks who want to work here for a few years, ship their bucks back to some foreign rathole, and not owe any allegience to this Country.
Great post and a good hope for our future.
Uday doesn't look so hot these days either. ;)
How cool that that was Saddam's bedroom! (I don't think son knew for sure when he took the pic. There hadn't been many people inside by the time he got there).
Can you identify these?
This place doesn't look like it survived....
GOOD WORK over there! We are PROUD of you!!!!
They've already demonstrated the part of the oath about bearing arms for the USA! .... :-)
well the last one is DEFINITELY Victory. however, I think the first two could be Camp Slayer, which is across the street...
