The language of success is English. Subjecting these children to an Ebonic curriculum will drag them down further--a form of child abuse.

More failure = more things to groan about = more social programs = more spending.

You are correct. Nothing more needs to be said.

This goes way beyond the soft bigotry of low expectations. These children are guaranteed to be left behind.

That said, I have always believed that education is a local issue. I think that we should let these people figure it out for themselves. If the parents in this school district are comfortable with the knowledge that their children will be living a worse life than there own, why is it my business? We are continually told that America is creating more low end jobs than we can fill. I guess these parents are raising their children to fill them.

The language of success is English.

And that is true not only in the U.S. but throughout the world. I am struck by the number of times I have seen Greta van Susteran walk up to an ordinary Aruban on the street, ask a question, and get an answer in perfect or near-perfect English. Its remarkable; we go to Aruba to visit, and most of them speak our language well beyond what is necessary to capture tourist dollars. But here in the U.S. we have people who dont think it is necessary for our own residents to speak our language at least as well as tens of millions of foreigners can.

Unbelievable.

"Subjecting these children to an Ebonic curriculum will drag them down further--a form of child abuse."

IIRC, that was the argument the first time this nonsense was suggested. That by doing this they would be futher ruining any chance they ever had of getting a real job.

And you know that the next thing to happen would be that they would sue the school district for not preparing them for the real world.

It's the typical lowest common denominator theory of education.

"the bigotry of low expectations" is how our President expressed it.
