Yes. The first draft. A "Super secret" sneak peek. After that, the Book was rewritten to add his wife being exposed. That's why I've been trying to get SOMEONE to look into it. I don't know anyone. I don't even know the reporters name I saw. She was standing in front of the capital building, and it was around dusk in DC. I thought it odd they'd report something that late. That's how I remember her.
It could have been C-SPAN, because I don't usually watch that news station, either. I watch FOX when I watch the news. I was just surfing. Remember, there was no leak at the time, so it was just a sneak peek Wilson book review. It wasn't important at the time.
How long ago? I'm not sure, but it was before the "leak" story broke. At first, I thought "What's the big deal about a leak? It's right in Wilson's book." Then, it became this huge scandal.
PS...someone has the reporter giving her sneak peek review on film. The station would have it in their archives, right?
Now think about this. The memo ALREADY CONTAINS Valerie Plame's name, and it did so PRIOR to Bob Novak's column or Rove's comments to Cooper
Of course, I've already pointed out that the identities of true NOCs are not routinely mentioned in memos, especially in memos to anyone OUTSIDE THE CIA. The cover name is used if any name appears at all.
Someone at State had to write the memo that Powell carried before Rove's conversation or Novak's column was written.
The author or even Powell himself may in fact be the leaker Judith Miller is trying to protect.
I would think so. I'll do some snoopin around C-SPAN after a while to see if there's anything in their archives. Got chores to do right now. Thanks for the heads up - you just may have created another buckhead opportunity.
"... outside information shows that Karl Rove was not aboard Air Force One."
WhooooHooooo! Another smear down the toilet!!
The ComPost, like the NY Times, is not above not reporting certain facts when they get in the way of their agenda.
I bet half of them could tell you that London was bombed by Jihadists several days ago, though.
US copyright office?
There would be 2 books. The one about Niger and yellow cake before the leak, and another printing after the leak where he added into the the text and title the part where his wife was a victim of an outing.
Yes, I know. Revising books is common. Many times authors put changes in their works from one printing to the next. I do not know how the copyright office deals with revisions. Do they keep both works on file or do they only file the latest version? At the time of copyright registration two copies of the work are included & those are sent to the Library of Congress.
Could minor Ambassador Joe Wilson himself have been the source in blowing his own Wife's cover?
It is distinctly possible, (though it may be unlikely that Joe Wilson himself directly was NY Times Judith Miller's source), since Joe Wilson himself evidently routinely bragged openly to strangers about her CIA employment, prior to such "cover" being "blown" in the press.
Here's an example of Joe's apparently routine and open bragging about Valerie being a "CIA agent," which became known directly to me over a year ago:
He certainly bragged about it per a famous and highly reliable source's (named below) account of his own face-to-face encounter with Amb. Joe Wilson prior to Valerie Plame's "outing" as a CIA agent/employee.
Based upon a personal conversation (we were in a small group eating; it was NOT an "off the record") I had with eminent historian Victor Davis Hanson (we were at a luncheon table together during a trip to Europe), it appeared entirely possible that Joe Wilson himself was the (or one source, if not the original one) possible source in revealing his own wife's status as a CIA agent or employee.
Victor Davis Hanson (Wilson presumably knew Victor Davis Hanson wrote regularly for NRO (National Review Online), had done OpEds for the Wall street Journal, and other publications, and had his own Website with a widespread following) said he (VDH) & Joe Wilson were both in the same "Green Room" before a televised debate-discussion on Iraq, etc. and Joe first warned the TV make-up person not to get powder on his $14,000 Rolex watch, then he bragged to Victor about several things (possessions and trips to Aspen, etc.), like his expensive car (I think it was a Mercedes), and then bragged about his beautiful wife who, Joe Wilson said (braggingly) was a CIA operative.
I asked Victor Davis Hanson Why he didn't write up this account.(?) He replied that Joe Wilson would probably simply deny it, since only he (VDH) & Joe Wilson were in the Green Room together before the broadcast.
However, it is now easy to surmise that Joe Wilson is a crass, materialistic, self-promoting, vain, egotistical, bragaddocio-opportunist, so this account is perfectly consistent with Valerie Plame's TWO photo shoots in Vanity Fair. (Or was it Vogue? No, probably too crass for Vogue, n'est pas?)
If I were Bush, I'd wait until September to announce a name.
