On MSNBC a little while ago, they had a story about the "politics of the CIA leak". The reporter was interviewing Pat Buchanan and Democratic strategist Peter Fenn. What follows is the best transcript I could piece together quickly. I've quoted Fenn word for word.
PAT BUCHANAN: It's very, very serious...There is a credibility problem for the press secretary...There is no legal problem for Rove...Reporters in Washington have a gleam in their eye and smiles on their faces, and there's a reason for it...Pat Fitzgerald hasn't been digging for two years and judges haven't been sending reporters to jail because they don't have anything...Everyone in town (Washington) feels there is something very, very serious and today's story in the NY Times where a memo was floating around aboard Air Force One about Wilson's trip to Africa indicates this could be very big stuff.
ALEX: Peter, what kind of big stuff could Pat be referring to?
PETER FENN: Alex, this is not a third-rate burglary. The focus had been on White House staff. Now, as Pat says, with this memo from the State Department about Wilson, about his wife, about the connection, it was brought onto Air Force One by Secretary Powell. I cannot imagine, Alex, that if he's going up and down the aisles with that memo as he was supposed to have been, that he did not discuss it with the President of the United States. I cannot imagine that there were not phone calls from Ari Fleischer, the Press Secretary who was on board, back to the White House about this. This was precisely at the time when Wilson was about to publish his article. Folks knew about his position about weapons of mass destruction. I have a sense that this may go all the way to the top.
It's not Fenn's wishful thinking, it's his intentional smearing of Bush. It's the DNC's formal declaration that they're now after Bush. Treat it as such.
Hey Pukin! You have any more rants about this coming soon?
What's the big deal it's not like he was using public taxpayer funded offices for sex parties.
Can you say "Im-PEACH"? I knew you could.
"Cheese, baby!"
Here, Ratty, Ratty.... LOL
Score:
Pukin 1
MoveOn 0
Pukin looks better every day. He said the Dems were after Bush, and now this DNC weenie is getting vibes from outer space that say this goes, "All the way to the top".
Yes looks like Dan Rathers revenge. The dems can't win an election so it's destroy those that do, kind of a terrorist way of doing things.
There after Bush. Guys we need to get serious. This is not funny. We should not treat it as such.
so, lemme see...the CIA was 'sending' someone to Niger and the State Department had a memo about it and the info was available to Powell and he shared the info aboard AF1? And they might have discussed how silly a choice the CIA 'investigator' was? Was Tenet on board? Are we to think that this was inappropriate?
These are desperate times for the Dems. They are heading over a cliff. We only need to stay out of their way.
In every post about Wilson/Rove, remind everyone that Sandy Berger, National Security Advisor for President Clinton IS GOING TO JAIL.
I agree, they ARE going after GWB. Even tho we knew they would. The lack of Bush scandal material is only serving to make the demonicRATs more rabid, and so they need to make it up! I'm hoping it will keep making them look like the desperate fools they are, but we can take nothing for granted.
After reading your rants, you are one SCARY Pukin Dog! The MSM should be very afraid. :-)
Pray for W and Our Freedom Fighters
Keep talking, Mr. Fenn.
Just keep talking.
Impeach and block the supreme court nomination(s) - Pukin Dog said it first.
Colin Powell must be a very, very scared.
If he did it, he should come clean about it - then the Left will collapse in order to spare him.
I have a sense that something does NOT go all the way to the top.
To start with, no one has been accused of a crime, let alone convicted of one. So the Dems are accusing the White House of collusion in a non-crime.
Last night on Fox News, they had a discussion about the Supreme Court, and they had Mary Landrieu and Arlen Specter on together.
I noticed that also. Especially with his dramatics of "this is very serious".
Buchanan and his sister bay, BTW are the puppet masters for the "hero" of a very small but very loud minority on FR, tom tancredo.
A bridge too far, if that is what he's thinking. They might force Rove's resignation, but Bush isn't going anywhere.
Disagree. Put on your Bush Cheney shirt and wear it all weekend. Bring out the bumper stickers, bring out your lawn signs, call your congressmen, write the papers. Be active. dont sit on this. dont be in a bubble, please. Trust me! I used to be one of those crazy people, hence my tag name.
Peter Fenn is a DEMOCRAT POLITICAL STRATEGIST.
This is a classic example of starting a fire, fanning the flames and claiming that the Bush presidency is on fire.
I just wrote about this in another thread. To me it seems as if the MSM is punting on trying to get Rove. They had two ways to go. Either drop this whole matter and let it quietly fade or wratchet up the rhetoric and charges. They seem to have chosen the latter or are throwing it out there to see how it plays.
Of course, Buchanan was his usual "doom and gloom for the President" self. But in the end, he seemed to be implying that it was others who had something to be worried about, i.e. Joe Wilson himself or friends in the State Department. Naturally, the dem strategist took advantage of Buchanan's vagueness (read talking out his arse) to imply the President was the focus of the investigation.
Honestly, this just keeps getting worse and worse for the MSM. They are losing it (again) for all the world to see. There is no accusation that they will not make.
Right, just like Gerald Ford got another term.
Not to get this line of thought going, but if that were to happen before Jan 20th, 07, Cheney could only run once, I believe.
lol. I have thought of that too. Maybe we need to remind them of this. Excellent point! YEAH.......
Who is worse - Pat Buchanan, or Joe Scarborough?
What is obscene is a mattress-bag such as Valerie Plame being allowed to get her hack of a husband a juicy all-expenses paid trip to Africa based on the request - this was supposed to be a serious mission, and they send a career government employee to check it out??
And my tax dollars are paying for this???
This is sickening. Will they send the cocktail hostessess from "H Street" to Iran after their elections? You know, just to recon the situation?
However, it's worth noting that MSNBC's idea of balance is him and Pat Buchanan as debaters. During this same segment Buchanan spoke of the White House's credibility being called into question regarding this Plame nonsense. Funny coming from a man who ran as a Reform Party Presidential candidate simply so he could be eligible for federal matching funds and get himself out of hock from his previous go-nowhere campaigns. He's never had much use for anything this president has done yet MSNBC has him on to represent the Administration's point of view. Don't think for a minute MSNBC doesn't know that every single book this guy has written recently has had at least one passage speaking highly of Nazi Germany in it. The network kills two birds with one stone: they can say they're being fair while at the same time portraying all conservatives to be like this wingnut.
Thankfully few people actually watch their network...
The RATS floated impeaching Rove yesterday, it is in their fondest dreams to bring down this good and decent president.
It AIN'T gonna happen.
The strategy is: try to get an investigation into the White House going. If the Republicans refuse, accuse the Republicans of a "coverup".
Buchanon by far. Scarborough is now Aruba show. He sticks to what he knows.
Buchanon is just a Bush family hater. He needs to retire.
This liar Wilson and his liar wife conspired to derail the war on terror, and Bush is gulty of having DISCUSSED it?
PD isn't new - he knows this stuff.
Uhhh, where to start. 1)They are always after Bush; and 2)they aren't even close to getting him. There is an investigation going on. Despite what the MSM says or does, at the end of the day it is the results of the investigation that will do the talking. But the MSM knows that and hates it. The MSM can't stand the fact that an investigator, a Federal Prosecutor, has been left with such an important matter. The MSM operates under the delusion that they and they alone run this country. As the MSM has lost power over the past ten or so years they have reacted like a petulant child. This is just more of the same. They can't accept that they don't control or run this country anymore.
That's the problem with these open-ended special prosecutor investigations. They go on and on and on, chew up boatloads of taxpayer dollars, and rarely result in anything remotely worthwhile. Rarely is the core charge ever substantiated. Special prosecutors are not held accountable for their own activites and the proceedings are not transparent. So secrecy and selective leaks from those involved or caught up in the investigation create a climate of rampant speculation, often destroying the lives and careers of people who are innocent of any wrongdoing.
So does anyone know if there is a deadline for Fitzgerald to wrap things up, or will he just continue with this investigation for the rest of his natural life.
Right, they always pick a lame Republican and have them debate an energetic Democrat.
And executives at MSNBC wonder WHY they are so low in ratings????
Thanks for the ping!
