TUBOD, Lanao del Norte -- The communist-led National Democratic Front (NDF) said it is now planning to recruit Muslims to become guerrillas of the New People's Army and was setting up a new group for them.
But the NDF said the establishment of the Moro Resistance and Liberation Organization (MRLO) was aimed at bolstering "the secessionist armed struggle for the Bangsamoro's rights to self-determination being waged by Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the breakaway faction of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF)."
"(The MRLO) would recruit Moros for the New People's Army and help establish guerrilla fronts in areas where there are no existing Moro revolutionary organizations," the NDF said in a statement.
The NDF said the MRLO was the revived version of the Moro Revolutionary Organization (MRO), which was established in the 1980s at the height of the anti-Marcos dictatorship movement.

Moro groups -- Tausug, Maguindanao, Maranao, Yakan, Iranun, Kalagan, Sangil, Samal, Pullun/Jama Mapun, Kalibugan, Badjao, Molbuganon and Palawani -- attended a week-long congress held in Maguindanao province late last month.
Prior to the establishment of the MRLO, the NDF's involvement with Bangsamoro underground activities was through its tactical alliance with the MILF.
The MILF has been negotiating peace with the government.
But while saying that the MRLO would complement the MILF struggle, the NDF statement failed to mention what would become of its tactical alliance with the rebel group.
Eid Kabalu, MILF spokesperson, declined to comment on the formation of the MRLO.
He said they would have to study first if the formation of the group would have a direct effect on the alliance it had forged with the communists.
"We don't know if it has a bearing on our alliance with them. We will have to find that out first," Kabalu said.
A separate manifesto by the MRLO says that it "aims to ensure that the peasant masses have lands to own and till, push for genuine nationalist industrialization, and freedom from bureaucrat capitalism."
Hassan Al-Banna, MRLO chair, said they also aim to unite the "broadest number" of the Moro people for the national democratic revolution through alliances with progressive organizations and other Moro revolutionary groups.
Al-Banna also vowed they would do "painstaking organizing work among the ranks of the Bangsamoro" in order to do away with the organizational deficiencies and disunities that attended the Bangsamoro struggles.
"Some of our Bangsamoro brothers also betrayed us as they protected their selfish or clan interests," he said.
Cincinnati Reds fan here.
You had me fooled -- But...I didn't know who Moros was. I was hoping he was a Latin-American, left-handed pitcher.
The Reds are soooooooooo bad. Maybe they could win a game using guerilla warfare. :>)
And about those links between the lot of them and PULO, Al Qaida, Hammas, Islamic Jihad, etc ... oh, and maybe also, Nicols and McVeigh!
Time to kick production of the 1911A1 into high gear.
Kinda makes you miss the old Big Red Machine of the 1970's, doesn't it?
This Week in Baseball reports the latest disabled list in spades...
Just out of curiosity, how much do you know about the NPA? I'm just curious.
Everything about them this year (this last decade) makes me miss the Machine. They were so good and these guys are so bad. If anyone ever wanted to do a study in contrasts, these two teams would be a great case study.
