Around 40 posts in 25 minutes when it's the middle of the night on a week night in time zones across the continental US. Good job!
I've seen 'em during the day, too.
I haven't been able to get my hands on their launch schedule around here for some reason. It seems rather erratic.
Well, one of us is posting at lunchtime from an oddball time zone.
Having a little mid-day fun.
Endthematrix - thanks for looking into it. I am really surprised that there were no calls to the FAA. Since you do work at the FAA, if you do hear anything when you go into work, can you please send me another reply on this thread. Thanks!
Main Entry: bo·lide

Date: 1834
: a large meteor : FIREBALL; especially : one that explodes
Starry Night shows a satellite (Cosmos 2237 R/B) going northeast at about 2:59 over your location... but that would not make a sound. Curioser and curiouser...
Allegra - thanks for the mid-day post from Iraq! Stay safe and keep up the good work!!!
Thanks. :-)
I figure the oddball timezone people keep this place going all "night". Either that, or a lot of graveyard shifters use this place to stay awake.
It took me quite a while to realize that when it gets really strange around here, it's because it's Friday night from east to west coasts.
That's interesting... but, I've seen low-orbit craft before, and there is no sound. This had a deep, deep rumble to it. Speaking of orbiting spacecraft, I'll never forgot, about two years ago (I think it was the beginning of July), the space shuttle separated from the ISS and would be traveling directly over the Chicago area around 10PM. Since I'm 40 miles NW of Chicago, we could see the ISS and Space Shuttle flying together at the same speed, but separated. That time, the flight path was from the NW to the SE. A very cool sight....
I've noticed that, too. I see a lot of fun posts on Saturday and Sunday mornings my time.
Yes, there are a few of us ex-pats who keep up some chatter while y'all are all asleep. ;-)
Well, since I am not a graveyard shift person, I need to go back to bed and get some more sleep so I can get up in a few hours to work.
Hopefully, someone will confirm my rocket theory!!!
Yep, one morning I stepped out to get the paper and saw a very bright light approaching from the SSW; I watched it as it passed overhead with no sound -- found out it was the ISS with a shuttle docked reflecting the brilliant sunlight up above. That was cool.
After 9/11 I watched plenty overhead. Plenty of military flying those few days.
Oh wow, you are in Iraq. That's a lot of time zones from me. Best success to you!
Thanks. Yes, it's just coming up on 1 p.m. here on a very hot, sand-stormy day.
(And time for me to stop goofing off on FR and get some work done...LOL)
Good night! I hope the mystery is solved when you get up. Maybe via your local news.
Asleep? Who's asleep? I'm halfway through my pot of coffee.
