Voinovich rode Bush's coattails to an easy win last year

Totally wrong. He was a very popular governor and he out polled Bush in Ohio by 27 points.

"It's like the children's story, the Emperor's Clothes: Everybody knows he's in his underwear and nobody will say it," Voinovich said Friday

Why is it that we elect so many idiots to run this country? Why is it that they all quote children's books, but none of them ever seems to quote anything from books that actually require intelligence to grasp? Can you picture one of them quoting Ayn Rand? Heck I can't picture one of them showing the mental strength to quote AA Milne...

Congress cannot remove a recess appointment

Yes. The question is why has Bush not made the appointment yet? He needs to do so ASAP.

Answered my own question,...it was Cinncinatti.

Still, it's a town in Ohio and Springer happens to be a wack job, too. Anyway, I live in Maryland, so I can't be making fun of the elected representation of Ohio.

Well, no,...actually I can make fun of Dennis Kucinich. He makes Jerry Brown look smart.

Bush ought to recess Judge Bork and say, "Now, he's gonna remain up their in the USSC until you pass my nominee"

Actually, I think Bush rode Voinovich's coattails, if you look at the numbers. Voinovich has been very popular in OH. He won convincingly in elections for mayor of a heavily democratic city. In his run for re-election as Governor a few cycles back he won by something like 40 percentage points over the 'Rat opponent, something like a 70-30 outcome. For some reason, people just like him. We may not like how he votes on all issues, but the guy knows how to win elections.

Somewhat off-topic, but there is a very real danger that the 'Rat candidate in '08 can take OH, and, if the other states hold the pattern established in '04, that means a 'Rat President. That is because Bob Taft (R) is very unpopular. That could drag down Republicans in the next governor's race, and if a popular democrat (think Strickland) gets in, that could be an advantage for the 'Rats come '08.

The other buttress against a 'Rat takeover of the midwest rustbelt states has been Indiana. While a 'Rat win there is less likely, it could happen if Bayh is on the ticket. If the 'Rats tip either OH, IN, or FL, they're in. This is a very, very close thing, people.

Sounds like a plan to me,...or else he could go with the Karl Rove recess appointment. ;0)
