Did anyone just see the disgraceful anti-American commercial on CNN?
http://www.unbrandAmerica.org ^

Posted on 07/04/2005 9:52:37 AM PDT by God luvs America

It has Jimi Hendrix version of the Star Spangled Banner in the background....the flag is waving and up comes the following messages, "Because our government has sold out to coporations"....."because conusmerism has become the new reilgion"...."because we forgot the real meaning of freedom"....as the rest of the flag comes into view the stars on the blue backdrop are replaced by corporate emblems.... brought to you by www.unbrandAmerica.org

ANSWER and other America-haters flew this flag daily at their RNC protests in New York City daily last September...

a truly disgraceful display of a desecration of the American Flag by CNN on Independence Day...

Perhaps the mentality of these ads is in sync with the people running CNN. Perhaps that's why their ratings been falling so much for so long, and why they are enduring severe layoffs right now. If you are watching, turn the channel (or just turn the TV off)

www.unbrandamerica.org?

Well, you gotta hand it to 'em. At least they didn't fall into the trap of registering their domain name under ".com".

However, in order to fight the branding of America, unbrandamerica.org must become a recognizable brand itself. Otherwise, it's never gonna leave a lasting impression.

What would you expect from the Communist Comunications Network ? Something patriotic ? Good grief I don't know anybody who watches CNN . Try Fox they had the Presidents 4th of July address (in KKK Byrd country) and got a very warm West VA. reception . My advice , stay away from CNN .

I think it's hilarious that adbusters.org is trying to get a catchy "brand" for it's socialist cause. Resulting in a more confusing "unbrandamerica.org" name that still routes through the old name.

Even More fun, in that there is celebration on their website that their ad would run in Wolf Blitzer's "Your World Today" between 12 and 1 edt July 4th..

Blitzer and crews have the day off, and it was international news. A tune out for most Americans. silly socialists..

I actually agree with them.

It's terrible the way corporations are running everything. They have too much power.

Corporations like the AARP, AFL/CIO, NEA, and the ACLU, for example.

Oh, they don't mean those corporations.

Nevermind.

"because we forgot the real meaning of freedom"

The Communist News Network overlooked interviewing our soldiers stationed in Iraqi and Afghanistan and asking what they're fighting for.

The irony is that the ingrates that produced that bilge and those that find it insightful/illuminating would never dream of fighting for the liberty that allowed them to produce it. Those actually fighting for our liberties are diametrically opposed to such sentiments.

Apple and Playboy. They are really going after the heavy hitters. The Bell symbol threw me for a loop. Does any phone company still use it?
They even went after two or their allies, ABC and NBC.
It took a smart crew to put such a mess together.

Terrible ad. Just preachin' to da choir. That may well be the intent. If they don't keep those $50 contributions coming in, they'll hafta get off their sorry trustifarian butts and get a job, or maybe even a McJob, with one of the logos.

The point of the ad eludes me. If you are an embittered trustifarian loser, it reinforces you prejudices, and comforts you with a message of solidarity. It does absolutely nothing to persuade. Other than a certain diffuse bitterness, I am not at all sure what the message is.

Perfect example of who gets the kind of corporate tax breaks I'm talking about.

Actually It should be the ADVERTISERS.

How many of those little symbols advertise on CNN?

Why should I advertise on a network that supports the elimination of my corporation?

I bet both CocaCola and Pepsi advertise on CNN's various incarnations. Why should they pay money to a network that supports their extermination.

The idiocy you all emit is, well, not at all startling. The point of this ad is to shine the light on the large corporations governing your country. You whine and ramble on about how the government should not run your lives or dictate your every move but in fact that is how you are living. If I am mistaken that the definition of Republican or Conservative is limiting the government’s power let me know. When the government is controlled by corporations you head to the ideologies of their CEO's. The food you eat, the clothes you wear, the gas you put in your car, and the beliefs you hold are all controlled one way or another. In retrospect you are in fact being ordered to live a certain way with the hallucination of being “free.” The shear disregard for our world by disavowing that there is such a thing as global warming is moronic. The gases emitting into our air everyday is (if you believe it or not) the cause of cancer, life-expectancy lowered, or countless other problems in our health. When you allow corporations to pass their legislation through congress to drill for more oil you are in fact destroying your way of life you so dearly treasure. You are being forced to live in a world wear once you step outside you can barely breathe. When you drill for oil you reduce the size of a population of species. When that area is limited, the biodiversity is lost. For those of you, who do not know the implications or health benefits from biodiversity, let me enlighten you. Every plant, every living species, holds in it the information called DNA, from this information there are millions upon millions of answers to our concerns over diseases such as the immunities developed by organisms to specific viruses in the wild. According to the National Cancer Institute, the tropical forests alone could contain thousands of plants with materials for several more anticancer "superstar" drugs. These anticancer drugs save over 30,000 lives in the US each year. The information cut down or driven to extinction could possibly someday save your life. When the diversity of the different species is lost you no longer have that puzzle piece. It is the right of everyone on earth to own that piece of information. When it is taken from you by corporations refusing to find alternatives to fossil fuels you should be outraged. There are countless reports in scientific journals backing this information. If you truly care about your life or anyone else’s as you so dearly believe, do something about it instead of hiding behind the notion that your political party cannot steer you wrong, because I do believe they are capable and willing to lie. I am embarrassed to acknowledge I live in a country wear 50% of you refuse to learn.

However, why watch CNN now when Spike TV has a James Bond movie marathon on all day?
