Yeah, still "breaking news" no info yet.  This is interesting and I cannot wait to see the images and story when it is able to be presented.

Yes, the rayed points contracting to the comet nucleus is the impactor. I'm hunting for the medium resolution images, they look better.

I was watching the comet through 10XS50 Binoc's. At impact the image went from a fuzzy white bloob to a "star like"
image. 30 minutes later the image was still very bright.

Once in a life time event.

It's my understanding that the Democrats are preparing a statement comparing the use of the impactor on Comet Tempel 1 to the firebombings of Dresden and Tokyo.

I missed it - complete severe thunderstorm cloud cover.

I got lightning rather than celestial fireworks.
