Pre-WWII, parents in France taught their sons how to dance. Parents in Germany taught their sons how to shoot. In the first few weeks of the German invasion, 193,000 Frenchmen were killed. Which parents loved their sons more?
As an aside, no federal aid ought to go to schools who bar US military recruiters from school property.

If one lives in this country, one has to be prepared to return something to it for that privilege. One way to contribute to our nation is to give it two to four years of your life by serving in the uniformed services of the United States.

Not only does it make one a better citizen (in general), but it also permits you to personally to contribute to this nation's greatness.

These mothers are off base. If the don't like the Army, sign up in the NOAA corps or the Public Health service, etc.

It is time that these persons learn what it means to be a citizen.

What this woman is really afraid of is that her son might become a Man and realize just how flaky Mom's world-view is.

More from the "keep my boy a boy" crowd, because they are terrified of real men.

“They offer these trinkets to lure our children to enlist,” Watson said in a phone interview from her home in Bolinas, Calif. “This is very aggressive, demographic targeting to have conversations with our kids that should not be happening.”

This should have been written about the homosexual lobby.

I see that the list of groups working with this deluded woman includes the usual suspects. Of course there's no left-wing anti-American appeasement agenda. Riiiiight!

“They know where to find kids who don’t think they have a lot of options. They are playing on our children’s lack of hope about college and their future.”

I'll be signing up, and I'm a straight A student with a future in medicine... so there goes that theory.

But she's OK with homosexuals in the schools.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I just sent them a (polite) to-the-point email of my opinion of their opinions. They can only do it because my son is helping protect that right. When a US Marine recruiter came to his school, my son joined--without any special bonus or trinkets or any promises except lots of hard work. Soon he'll be heading to the Sandbox for his second deployment, and we are so proud of him.

17 and 18 year old men are fully capable of making a reasoned decision as to whether to enlist in one of our Armed Services.

18 and 19 year old men won WWII for us.

No National Guard to fight forest fires.

I was activated about 5 times to fight western forest fires with my C-130 unit. This woman can kiss my @ss, my wife's @ss, and my kid's @ss. I left my family and my career and my family to support western forest fires in 2002 and 2003. I left my career and my family to support Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. I am completely BEYOND sympathizing with these TOTAL morons. VOTE CONSERVATIVE.

Of course when Clinton was bombing Yugoslavia, this woman wouldn't have had a problem with it.

I have had horrable experiences with Army recruters for my 19 yo son. They are offering him so much. He is next to a pro soccer player. Works out with pro teams but can't play because his scholarship offers would go away. Actually had to throw a recruter off my property. Free college, special forces, special assignments are just a few of the bribes.

Had this crackpot and her pals been born 50 years earlier, they would have spent her golden years speaking German.
