I have been saying that Bush should recess appoint Keyes for some time now. He should just do it, if the democrats don't like it they can go ahead and let Bolton thru. Make it up to them.
Naw...Keyes won't fit in...He's not a neo-con...He's not a globalist...He doesn't belong to the CFR or any globalist think tanks...He is way too pro-Constitution...Plus, he's a Conservative...
I'm all for doing what the constitution says, and I'm all for FORCING our elected government representatives to UPHOLD THEIR OATH OF OFFICE and protect the Constitution, the sovereignty of this nation, and reject any treaties which violates both our constitution and our sovereignty.
That's one way of putting it......
Because we have made good progress with the Jewish voters for the last few years. We don't need to ruin that with Pat.
I noticed the article came from Keyes orginization. So, I guess the message here is: If you can't win an election you can still publically beg for an appointment. Keyes is sinking to the point where he's giving the respectable political whores a bad name.
No one wouldn't be that bad either.
Now were talking.
Do you people live in some kind of fantasy land? That is EXACTLY what we were hearing from the Keyes crowd in here last November. Do you want me to remind of you just how well Keyes' Democrat oponent dealt with Keyes' allegedly legendary verbal skills? I'll tell you. Obama laughed his way to such an overwhelming victory that it wasn't even funny. So please, spare those of us who've heard this load before...We've seen the results of Keyes' verbal dualing, and it ain't pretty. Somehow though, they cart Keyes away from these things feet first, and a couple Keyes-Kool-Aid drinkers say, "I think he won" every time.
Iscool - Good to see someone is focused on the Constitution.
Others - I'd like to see Bolton, but if it's not Bolton, they we need someone good. Whoever goes there will get nothing done if there is a recess appointment. We can diasagree on that, sure, but to push for real reform, there needs to be support from the Senate. The Dean Democrats will look like fools if they fight aginst Keyes after calling the Republicans the party of white males or whatever he said.
Shut down the UN just like the Rats have shut down the Senate.
keyes did well in that one. but he should not have run. tough to get elected when you have never lived in the state.
you misunderstand me.
Why are so many falling into the rhetoric of "if the dems wont give us" - why not say "if they wont give us, we'll take it" -
the nominee has a RIGHT - repeat that - RIGHT to and up & down vote. GOT IT!
the Pres. has the right to choose his nominees - WITHOUT consultation, input or choices by the hill.
GOT THAT!
We let the dems win on this we watch the theft and erosion of more of the safeguards of separation of powers.
WE bolt on Bolton now and give them Keyes or anyone - it's just what they want - they can start the 'running the clock' game from the first whistle again - it ain't that long to Nov 06, folks.
It is not time to jump ship and hand them the keys to the captain's quarters. It's time to punch this bully in the nose.
It's time to start screaming loud and clear to Frist et all.
It's time to make loud noises about Frist stepping down - demand it. Maybe he would remember he's supposed to be a Senate leader - just maybe he would do what he should have done months ago - no more talk, no more jelly-fish conferencing with the enemy. SO DO WHAT IS RIGHT -
I wonder if the key here isn't to go after Frist - not only would he get the message but so would a lot of other pubblies looking to near elections. Maybe they would finally get the message that we expect them to do what they are sent there for - or they wont' get returned. the demonrats get their power not from being in the right - but from our reps not doing the right -
Maybe if the attention, which empowers the demonrats, were turned towards making demands of - even to stepping down - Frist and company - maybe there would be some backbone stiffening, even if only with an eye to self-preservation - in Foggy Bottom - and we could pull this game out of the cellar
well, isn't this what already happened with the judiciary appointments? why didn't we make a stand then? why now? I see little difference between the views of keyes and bolton. either one is fine for me. i don't think it is giving up on anything.
I am not part of the Keyes organization. I have been putting forth this idea for some time now. Others have as well. The guy who wrote that article probably got the idea from reading it here at FR.
don't get me wrong....i think the senate is abusing their power by failing to vote. what they are doing is not "advise and consent" as they are supposed to do. they are simply not voting. but my point is we should have made the stand with the judicial appointments. keyes and bolton are pretty much the same.
ive seen the article a few other places.
Well I disagree. The UN is a joke and if Bush can't send in the person he thinks will do the best he shouldn't anyone or send in someone really bad like Keyes. Will Bush send Keyes? No Bush doesn't work that way. He isn't going to send a comedy act there. But it would be funny if he did. Just like it would be funny if the democrats Borked a nominee and the next guy he sent up was Bork. So they can just Bork him again. That is what I would do to the Say No To Everything Democrats.
Or when the other Senator in the state is Durbin.
I was talking about the idea of sending Keyes. It has been floated around here for some time now.
