it's probably easier to say that some criminal element did the murder, being DC and all

Whenever I walk into a Starbucks and I see a group of young 20ish women in front of me in line, I turn around and walk out. This is because they will take a full 20 minutes to place their order which is invariably a variation of "double-pump-non-fat-skim-milk-non-dairy-blah-blah-blah" undrinkable confection of some sort or other. Nothing simple for these young American princesses. Then they have to spend an additional five minutes looking at and considering the purchase of various overpriced pastries after which point they usually rub their stomaches and decline. Then, when the cashier rings them up, they spend another five minutes rummaging through their purses for the money, as if they were surprised to learn that they were required to pay for their purchase.

Wow.  I had never heard of this story until now.  I read the first few paragraphs and it is a shock!

I will go back and read the rest of the articles, but I wanted to jump back and thank you for posting it.  You should put some of that information in the main body of the posting so others could see it.

Funny, how we never saw this mention in the MSM, huh?

"I shall have to test your theory."

Any excuse for Starbucks, eh? [Frank hoists a cup in Zenalyte's honor.]

"Hsve you tried the Chantico yet? Oh, my LORD."

You mean the drinking chocolate? Nope. I'm afraid I'd like it...

One reason to stand in line for Starbucks is that their coffee has more caffeine than the other coffeeshop coffees.

Actually, I mean B&N, not Borders, though there is a SB at the Woodlands Borders, IIRC.

My experience has been the same as yours though I had not given it much thought. I am old and confident enough that those folks amuse me more than anything else. I am in Dallas but have visited SBs in Austin several times also. Unlike Frank, in my experience the ones in the book stores have been the epitome of an air of intellectual snootiness.

"My W sticker was keyed at the Borders on West Alabama...but then that's enemy territory."

ACCKK!

"The Rice, Memorial Drive (inside the loop) and Montrose area SB's are where the ideologically sad are..."

You betcha. I like the look of the old neighborhoods there, but the younguns are creepy...

My Starbucks has several cute chicks working there. Haven't met the manager yet, but when I do I'll shake his hand for his hiring prowess...then confess that that's the reason why I study in his store.
