Where has an officer made that claim? You are building a strawman that doesn't exist.
No I'm not. The speculation about his having molested thirty six thousand children came from law enforcmentn when the note books were shown to the news media.
Often law enforcement agencies are the worst at announcing spectacular finds that simply can't be supported when the numbers are examined.
One would think that before making a statement about the molestation of thirty six thousand children by one person, someone would have used a calculator to parse the figure.
Please cite this statement you are referring to. I have already posted where the police said the exact opposite. Cite your source or you are just posting hearsay. (I'm sure your TV told you, right?)

I find it odd that you are upset at some alleged officer who said 36,000 instead of some guy who obviously is a child molestor. It is clear from most of the quotes, that the officers have never claimed he personally molested 36,000 boys.
When the hell are our courts going to realize that pedophilia CANNOT be rehabilitated by probation or jail sentences??
While I'm disgusted by this man and his actions, I'm more disgusted by the courts that have allowed this man to walk the streets.
Is this how we show our children that we love them and that our hopes of the future reside in them??

Dude, read that again. This guy had notebooks of 36,000 names. That's all. They could be names of photos or videos he was selling, who knows. There is nothing in that statement that says he personally molested 36,000 boys or anything close to that. What is your major malfunction?
Would it be too crude to suggest we take this guy out someplace and shoot him?
Maybe he did groups. Or maybe he just has a real active fantasy life which he documents as real.

My initial point was to always check the figures in such a report. I also said that law enforcement said that he may have molested as many as thirty six thousand children. I stand by that statement regardless of the statement made by a police officer that if he molested only a tenth of the children listed it would amount to hundreds. Actually a tenth would have amounted to thousands.
His statement was that seven notebooks contained the names of thirty six children with codes, it was assumed by law enforcement,indicating how he molested each child. I took the one in ten comment to be a "cover your ass" fall back position if the thirty six thousand figure self destructed.
My money is on he was a major supplier via internet and mail in addition to being an abuser.
My great hope is that those servers he had will help the authorities take down 36,000 child molestors!
