Your right about a terrorist organization, the teachers unions were founded by an avowed communist.

California's labor movement, especially its influential teachers' union, has promised a fierce battle to defeat Schwarzenegger's measures. Already bitter that his proposed budget does not raise school spending as much as they want, teachers see his tenure measure as a threat to their job security.

Let me guess, the union has been telling anyone who'll listen Arnold is CUTTING school budgets.

And if I'm not mistaken, battling to defeat the gov's proposal can only be described as an "honest day's work" in dimocrat world.

Unfrozen Caveman DNC Chairman approves demonstrations against anything republican as an honest day's work.

Schwarzenegger, a Republican, is backing ballot measures to impose a state spending cap, raise tenure requirements for teachers and take the job of drawing lawmakers' districts from legislators.

I'm not sure I like that last one. Who will have the authority to redraw legislative districts if that particular measure passes? I assume it's the governor, but the article does not specify.

"I'm saddened by the demise of ordinary civility."

This is a natural result of polarization. And the side that speaks softly will not be heard in this climate. It's actually a good thing. More shouting draws more general attention toward politics. Keep your advil gellcaps handy.

I admire his poise in dealing with these jerks. Now I hope he can stand his ground.

You are right to be troubled. I was madly in love with California for years. I watched it go into the tank. Saw HOW it went into the Tank. The the Dems want to spread this misery equally -- to all and each of the other states.

What was that all about, more Californians, AKA the "French of the U.S." wanting a free education again? Maybe they should try working for it like I and a lot of other people do, working full time while paying for night school. If not, I`m sure California can use them for a jury where they can decide guilt or innocence on snapping fingers.

Point of the matter is the California is the most liberal state in the US. If a guy like Arnold gets protested like this over there, the GOP will forever be screwed there.

Yes, but you have to remember that "a guy like this" got elected over here.

I'm saddened by the demise of ordinary civility.

Yeah, it disappeared in 1962 or thereabouts. It's been getting worse ever since.

>Public employees should not be allowed to unionize

I have no problem with them unionizing. Their right to strike should be eliminated on the grounds that they provide an essential service to the public Without the ability to strike they become a man holding a gun with no bullets.

What about the blatant conflict of interest? Public unions make campaign contributions to the very people who set their salaries and benefits. Public unions should be disallowed on that basis alone.
