I actually had friends tell me that I should put our younger two in pre-school before Kindergarten so they could learn about 'circle time'. I just laughed and said I thought my kids were smart enough to get the hang of it when they started Kindergarten a year later. Sheesh. Folks who otherwise are perfectly able to be home with their kids, just seem like they can't WAIT to get rid of them! Drives me nuts, sometimes, especially when they act like I'm wasting my life being a stay at home mom.
This childs death falls squarly on the shoulders of a 'PERSON'.
Prayers to the family.
You did not read my post,
I did not blame the death of this child on any car manufacturer.
I said that like seatbelts etc. some safety features could alert people if they left their kid in their car.
My daughter is with me all the time. I KNOW where she is in the car, I talk to her (even when she couldn't talk back to me), sing to her, point stuff out. There is NO way I would get out of the car and 'forget' her.
I think some parents are selectively 'forgetting' that they decided to leave their kids in the car. How do you forget the little person in the backseat?!
Sorry to rant off on you. Does it not seem odd to you that parents would forget their kids? Look how concientious you are about your pet.
'We don't need more lawsuits, what we need are more people to be attentive and people to take responsibilities for their own actions. Point blank."
Man, I knew I liked you.... :) Got your "mail", I'll probably shoot something over to you later tonight or tomorrow, ok?
Okay! Cool! :)
You have an anger problem, looking for blame and who you can hammer on. I don't appreciate your attitude.
The situation was tragic. Of course the man who did not check for the child is at fault.
I also said I wish car manufacturers would create a safety device/system to remind people they've left their kid in the car. It would not prevent all of these situations but it might help, and I stand by my comments.
And I said that was an unreasoned suggestion. We all know what you said. You're the one doing the hammering, again and again with the same statement. You can wish all day for a miracle cure, but you can't force car manufacturers to rescue you from being stupid. Deal with it.
Or maybe you're one of those who also think gun manufacturers should make safer guns too??
Look, you either have never had kids, or you are senile! I cannot imagine any person who "forgets" they have a child in the back seat of a car! If hot weather makes you 'stupid', move to a cold weather climate. I doubt it would make a difference with some people............. then the child could freeze to death!
I actually can see it as a selling point to those moms and dads that buy the cars that have all of the child amenities that can be optional. Like DVD's, coolers in the floors, and removable seating. They are presented as the answer to the busy families lifestyle. Both of our cars have the child safety lock and we have used them to prevent 'get aways' when our daughter first learned to undo her safety seat seatbelts.
Marcellus was to have been dropped off first on Foreman's route, but Foreman had trouble making a left turn from a busy street and went on to his next stop and did not return, Hastings said.
(snip)
Hastings said he had no explanation for why there was about a five-hour gap between the time the boy was to have been dropped off and police being called.
There are a couple of dogs here that just don't hunt.
I suppose it is possible that the kid was asleep in the van, but I can't believe he didn't raise a ruckus upon finding he was locked in and alone.
The 5 hour delay in calling the cops raises a flag, too. I'd have been moving mountains trying to find my child if they were even 20 minutes late.
The van might get darned hot, but fatal in 5 hours? I think an autopsy is probably in order.
Wouldn't your average car alarm go off if a kid was moving around inside?
Ever been in a hailstorm?
Imho, a simple car alarm should be enough to alert people to movement in the vehicle.
Stick to your guns SusiQ!
You are making an investment that will pay off in dividends money can't measure.
It would if the temperature were either very high or very low. As for the hailstorm, the temperature would likely be within some sort of acceptible temperature range.
Ultimately, there is no substitute for paying attention (situational awareness).
The poor little kid had two people who neglected him that day.
