I worked in a hospital and saw quite a few people, have feeding tubes and such pulled because "grandma wouldn't want to live like that". In at least a few cases shortly after they were starting to talk and try to eat again- i.e, on the road to some kind of recovery.

I suspected in more than one case it had nothing to do with what grandma "wanted" - more like what grandma had in the bank.

Rush once said during Terri's case, that in his medical directive he said that no one who can benefit from his will, gets the right to decide his end of life decisions. Sounds good to me.
