Robbie Gordon of NASCAR started the discussion, saying that he wouldn't drive in the Indy Car Racing League series until they do something about Danica Patrick's weight 'advantage.'
'The lighter the car, the faster it goes,' Gordon said. 'Do the math. Put her in the car at her weight, then put me or Tony Stewart in the car at 200 pounds and our cars are at least 100 pounds heavier.'
'I wont race against her until the IRL does something to take that advantage away.'
I glanced at the weight of the weight of the drivers in the Indy Car Series. They are pretty much smallish guys --between 140 and 155 lbs.
He seems to be willing to race against guys who are about 60 pounds less and had no problem with it before.

I'm trying to think back, did they have Roberto Guerrero on after wiping out the whole row? What about Paul Tracy? For a while there he was trashing vehicles left and right. There have been a lot of guys over the years that have caused wrecks that trashed cars. Not sure if they interviewed them all.
Very telling that this is what you remember most about her debut 500.
I saw a little of the LPGA event on the golf channel last weekend. I was shocked at what I saw. Shall I say there appear to be a lot of manly women golfers? As a woman, they give me the heebie-jeebies. I'd much rather look at an attractive woman like Danica Patrick any day of the week.
You were more gentle. The word I picked out for her started with a 'B'. ;)
Metro-sexual Testos-Estrogen dysfunction.. obviously..
Hormonal battle of the pussified..
i.e. Quasi-Lesbianism -or- Bull-Dagger meets Bull-Spermer
Better a prude that a.....well you know.
Like I said, I just try to ask myself if God would approve of that kind of attire.
Have a great day!
Perhaps, but I don't think so. I heard was she said, and it didn't sound like she was joking, but it is hard to tell in that monotone and annoying voice that she has. But anyhow, it seems to fit with the rest of her personality, which, in my opinion, is very self-centered.
A quote from an interview she gave earlier this month at Indy: "I was actually walking back from pit lane during the day yesterday, and there was a group of about 15 little kids that looked like they were skipping school and screaming for me to come over. As soon as I walked across, they screamed even louder. I just think it's really flattering, and I think it's what the sport needs."
Asked about how she would feel about a victory at Indy? "I have a feeling it might change motorsports forever."
Just a couple of examples, but it seems like everytime I hear her open her mouth, it's always all about me.
Anyway, I'm not really interested in bashing her; I was just pretty surprised at the use of the word "humble" to describe her--it certainly wouldn't be something that I would ever consider using.
I didn't realize there was a prude patrol, but really... the egregious and hypocritical use of words dilutes them for use when really needed. Surely there are real sluts out there that deserve to be pointed and shouted at.. why waste time here?
Who can honestly say that if any of these women here had a body like that they wouldn't wear a bikini to the beach, and any of these men screaming slut wouldn't be watching?
LOL!! That's a pretty sturdy limb to go out on. ;-)
What an epic wuss.
Wait for the movie 'Big Men Can't Drive!' :)
I can see that I have caused you anger, or something. Please, don't let my opinions get you that upset. They are just my opinions.
Have a great day!
Anyone who doesn't see that Danica is true blue racer doesn't know much at all about racing.
LOL
Damn!
I agree with Howlin.
Howlin, this is the second time in about three months that you said something I agree with. I won't talk about the othe 3,000 or so things we don't agree on, but in this case, this makes two.
Seriously, you are right. Beauty should be celebrated. There is a big difference between sexy attire and porn. We just had the Miss Universe contest from Thailand. There were three weeks of beautiful women from all over the world wearing sexy gowns and swimwear at a large number of venues. Then on contest night, more sexy gowns and swimwear.
Was this "slutty", as yellowdoghunter likes to call it? Hell no. There is not enough celebration of beauty.
Anyway, one more thing to celebrate (besides beauty) is when I agree with Howlin on something.
:)
I know! Just trying to avoid hyperbole here.
Put her in a NASCAR car and let's find out.
I never said anything about her being a true-blue racer. That was not my point at all. She may be a true-blue racer, I could really care less.
I was only commenting on her attire and the bad example it sets for little girls.
see tennis...
I wished death upon her? Huh?
Here's what I said: "I certainly wouldn't miss her if she jumped to NASCAR and I never saw her again...."
Nothing about dying, unless you consider a move to NASCAR spiritual death. All I said was that I wouldn't be at all sad if she left IRL. That's all.
Second, you're right, I'm sure that I couldn't do what she does. I've never driven a car around the IMS at 225 mph, and I doubt that I could do it, absent a lot of practice and money. So what? What does that have to do with me not liking her? I like Kenny Brack, and I certainly can't do what he does. I even sort of like Sarah Fisher, because I always thought she was a lot more down to Earth than Danica. Sure, I can't do what she does--but so what?
It IS what the sport needs.
Asked about how she would feel about a victory at Indy? "I have a feeling it might change motorsports forever."
Just a couple of examples, but it seems like everytime I hear her open her mouth, it's always all about me.
Excuse me, but they asked what she thought and so its her fault for saying what she thought?
Anyway, I'm not really interested in bashing her;
Sure you are. Didn't fool me.
Yes, IRL weighs just the car...not the car with the driver.
I'm not angry, I'm laughing at you and having a blast while doing it. :)
Exactly. More then a few of these names are missing from the photo album. (In case the newbies don't know, yes, there is a FR photo album.)
It's kind of like high school.
That's for sure.
You bet...NASCAR is FAR superior. She made several mistakes in that race, yet still ended up fourth. Nascar is MUCH BETTER,IMHO!!!
skipping school to watch any sport is not right.
It may be what F1 needs but it is now what children need.
One wouldn't know that from your posts. I am glad you are having a good time, that is why I come to FR!
Have a great day!
I'd have much more respect for her if she would stay away from "sexualizing" herself.
She should be a driver.period.
Ditto.......
LOL! I was watching Real Sports on HBO some time ago and there was a story about the LPGA golfers being afraid of being thought of as gay. I just kept thinking, if you don't want to be thought of as gay then don't join the LPGA.
Ok, you want me to bash her? I'll bash her some more. I don't like her. I hope she never races at Indy again. I hope she goes to NASCAR so I never have to watch her--better yet, she can jump to F1 with one of those underfunded stiff teams and follow in the footsteps of Jacques Villeneuve, another guy I can't stand, and she can even win a F1 championship like Villeneuve and then float off into obscurity, when the only television time they get is when Michael Schumacher is passing lap traffic.
Happy?
It's the beauty of FR; we can disagree all day long on some things and then find that ONE thing we agree on. (I bet we agree on more than you think we do! Sorry)
And believe me, if I looked CLOSE to the way she looked, my face (and butt) would be plastered everywhere!
More power to her.
Would you want your granddaughter, daughter, etc... dressing has she has?
Yes, Diva. I was crying as she was making history, and the WHOLE track was on their feet waving their hats and cheering her in salute and happiness for her. It was quite a sight. True American spirit.
suits me just fine
Says it all! :)
Couldn't be; she doesn't like "cliques" or "small groups."
Right......LOL.
I fail to see how posing in such pictures is a great example to little girls. Girls should know that they can be great WITHOUT making themselves a sex figure.
Women have made great strides, I am not sure all of them are good.
I would appreciate it if she would be a spokesperson for racing...and RACING ONLY!!!
IF I ever have a girl, she will not be taught that such a person is a fantastic example, that's for sure.IMHO, She isn't.
Must be the wind drag on his over-sized helmet.
The pics "say it all." There is NO reason for posing for such pictures.period.
FWIW- I don't think you are the end all be all judge of what someone else can handle when you can haven't done it yourself. She may rock NSACAR as well- who knows?
If you don't like her fine- but what do you know about her abilities? You are basing your judgment on how you interpret a few interviews.
That is your choice but you are missing out on a great story.
Mark my word.
Really? I don't put a LOL or a :) at teh end of every single post but I have been using them, even to you!
Remember this one?
You aren't the only one complaining and whining about her. Some of the others are male. :)
NOTICE THE :) AT HE END OF IT.
LOL, what a wuss
My phone rang in the middle of my last post, and I was on the line for I guess quite a while. When I came back to finish my post and submit it, I didn't realize that in the meantime things had gotten controversial...
Yes, that's true, but AJ Foyt gets a pass because he's got his face on the Borg Warner Trophy four times. Danica is looking for victory number one--anywhere.
But you are right--drivers aren't the most humble bunch around--but that said, she still irks me.
