I know we do take casualties, but how we manage so often to be unscathed from being ambushed AND decimate the attackers is just amazing.
Scary though.

Operation Thunder appears to be doing really well. This is a great headline and great story.

Lets be clear on terms though.
People that attack combatants are insurgents.
People that attack non-combatants or attack indiscriminatly are terrorists.

"...how we manage so often to be unscathed from being ambushed AND decimate the attackers is just amazing."
A read that a common tactic used by guys like Chesty Puller in Haiti in the 30's was to find the insurgents by patrolling through the jungle until they got ambushed. Since the insurgent were not well trained, Puller's troops could use counter ambush tactics to close with them and destroy them.

No sarcasm.
You can attack US troops and not be a terrorist.
Otherwise terrorist is just a word we are using for enemy.

You just spelled it out. That is the definiton right there, as I learned it. Freedom Fighters/Insurgents/Guerillas attack attack other combatants. Terrorists attack innocent civilians. It is that brutally simple.

There is another operation underway.....wretchard on his site mentions the name Operation Lightening.
Thunder goes after the foot soldiers.....Lightening is targeting the high value targets..the leadership.

I think our kill ratio is a lot better than 10%.Please. Don't even use that phrase. That gives me Vietnam flashbacks and I was born in Seattle in 1964.

Keep him in your prayers. One of our church members, Tyler Creamean, was murdered by terrorists using an IED last Sunday. Tyler leaves behind a wife, step-son and the other members of the 73rd Engineer Company from Fort Lewis, WA.
Great kid, and he will be missed very much.
